Center Rear Seat Belt

Mine is missing so I’m searching for one, but need to know what if any differences there may be. Is the rear center belt the same as say a front center belt for a truck? Is the same as the outer rear belts for the rear seat or is it a one off?

Question Re: Center Rear Seat Belt

My 1970 Blazer never had center rear belts, nor did any of my 1972 Blazers I parted out. There were only enough belts for two rear seat passengers. Is this a 1972 feature depending on assembly plant?

Well now I’m not sure. Would be great if mine is just supposed to have the two. Mine is Flint built 72. I’ve seen others with all three belts.

Re: Center Rear Seat Belt

Here’s another thread. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...d.php?t=629976

Looks like it could have been either way and I’ve seen both. Would like to know more about this. I don’t recall a third belt being an option or ever seen anything on the SPID label. I’m going to assume mine only had the two outer belts since there’s no evidence pointing to it ever having a middle.

Look how narrow that seat it. Only 2 seat belts.

I agree with you and maybe it was a dealer install or something, but I’ve seen several examples with a center belt. Here’s one example. https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...&postcount=282

Re: Center Rear Seat Belt

So it was always a 3 passenger rear seat but they didn’t care about the middle person until 71? or 72? and only if you got a certain size tire. Still wondering if the center belt is the same as the others in length and style or if a truck center is the same and could substitute. From pics I’ve seen the middle belts fasten under the inner mounts for the outer passengers. Also at least two different style seats. Some with 4 legs and some with 2. Ones with 4 the belts all mount to legs and with 2, the inners mount to the floor.

Re: Center Rear Seat Belt

IMO it would have a center belt. Here’s an example set with several others in old for sale ads: https://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/...ght=Seat+belts

The rear seat RPO required the use of certain size tires. Some early Flint builds may have used the 71-style arrangement for the rearward seat brackets.
