93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

Thanks for the post. 93 Silverado C1500 2WD Short Bed. Line leaking about 1/2 way down driver's side in the frame. 2 Questions: 1) Is it possible to change myself (don't mind challenges) and 2) Anyone have a diagram or recommendation where to buy the line.

I want to make sure I order the correct line. In-line tube seems to have the part but again, just double checking.

Many thanks as always - Duff

Re: 93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

sometimes using prebent lines can be a pain getting them into place. For something that long I would buy a oll of tubing, fittins and run bend and flare it myself. IT is definitely do able.

Re: 93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

On my hot rods I buy bulk Ni-Copp line, bend and flare it my self. Nic-Copp line flares like butter. If you don't have a flare tool bend the line as needed. Add the tube nuts as needed and then take it to a repair shop and have them flare it for you.

Re: 93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

Many thanks for the replies. They make perfect sense. So here's an update for those who have had the same challenges. I did find the two foot line that goes from the frame just above the rear tire driver side to the bracket prior to feeding the splitter on top of the rear end. Holy s*** I hope that makes sense to you guys. So the connection at that bracket fits well but of course the connection between the frame and the gas tank driver side above the rear tire won't thread. I took a micrometer to it and it's a tad bigger. I assume the connectors and threads can be slightly off on many applications. Does that make sense? Perhaps I need to buy some connectors first and see if they fit and then as you mentioned, by the tubing and flare it myself. Thoughts? Sorry that's a long freaking thread. Thanks, Duff

Use the connectors off your stock line and install them on the new line before flaring?

Re: 93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

LS short box, that's a great idea. The new lines are pre-bent and already have the connectors but I wonder if I could cut them off and reflare. Thanks again for the great tip

Re: 93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

This may not be an issue with your truck, but I thought I would mention. The front lines on my '88 GMC were damaged. I got replacement lines from a pick it yard from a '90's truck. The connections didn't feel right. Turns out the newer threads are metric where the older are SAE. I actually bought adapters to figure that out, but couldn't find the right adapter to make it work. I cut off the metric fittings and used SAE and got a cheap flare tool.

Angry Re: 93 Silverado C1500 Front to Rear Brake Line

4/18 Update for those who want to know.

As you're reading this post, insert cuss words "everywhere". Scraped and bloody knuckles, broken lines (the new ones) and all sorts of other Sxxx happening.

For front to rear, there are 3 pcs; 1) the "1ft spiral that comes off the master cylider", 2) the long 8ft line that connects from spiral connector to the connector at the rear wheel (next to the gas tank) and 3) the 2 ft that goes to the frame where it feeds to the splitter on the rear end.

1) New connectors didn't fit.
2) Flared old connectors on the new lines; hard time getting them to thread
3) The 2 new lines together were too long by about 1.5ft.
4) Attempted to use just the new long line, kept the spiral line off the mstr cyl. Too short.

NOW I'm gonna buy stock tubing (the more bendable), use the old connectors, prefit/test them and go from there.

ANY SUGGESTIONS on where to get the more flexible lines?

Thanks - Duff
