Lastly, where would you place angle finder, to find the rear differential pinion angle? I'm thinking one of those lines on differential case.
Is there a flat spot big enoigh on top of the diff to place a digital angle finder? Around where the rear cover bolts on.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

Point of no return on my color! I finished up the floor work and put it in epoxy. Then sprayed some reduced raptor liner from a HVLP gun. Minimal texture and very happy with how it sprayed. I'll be doing my top this way when the time comes. Crappy lighting but it was midnight when I finished and my tripod light burnt out as I was cleaning up.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

Cleaned up the firewall a bit - planning to get color put down on it this weekend so I can get the cab back on the frame.

Firewall painted. First vehicle I've ever started painting, I'm quite happy with how it came out.

I went with a base/clear paint.

Thank you.
No, not yet. The template you sent me is waiting at the border for me to pick up yet. I've got a few things to get shipped there before I make the trip down to get it all.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

Started mounting some more sheetmetal and mocking things up. Getting there, some adjustments needed yet. Also need to get the rear dropped just a little more yet.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

Found a rear diff with 4.10s, so pulled out the old one with 3.08s. Saves me having to get the gears changed.

Also got the rear lowered to where I want it o sit now. Looks much better.

Door and fender gaps almost dialed in. Spent way too much time messing with shims and getting the gaps to an acceptable level. But I'm almost there.

Hoping I can get this thing in primer before the end of July.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

I have two original hoods, both of which have their own issues. So i decided to roll the dice on a new cowl hood. Fit isn't perfect as it doesn't sit quite flush with the fenders up front. Probably some adjustment yet but regardless I can live with it, I'm not building a show truck here.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

Got the tailgate put on. Everything fitting pretty good so far.

I had told myself a few months ago I would get it in paint by fall, but that doesnt look to be happening. I finished building a temporary paint booth in another building and it isnt heated so im not going to rush things. It's not pretty, but I think it will work. It seems to move air good and creates positive pressure inside. think im going to get a cheap Amazon smoke machine and see how quickly it moves air out. Essentially all the intake air is filtered through that box, which has two fans blowing down from the top. The floor needs a thorough cleaning yet. Im into it for less then what a portable Amazon booth would be and from what I read those things dont move air well.

Re: 1970 Blazer Build

Nice, I like to see how people build their paint booths.

My neighbor paints in his driveway. He paints in the morning on a low humidity day (rare around here) Throws down an old carpet, hoses it down, parks the car on it, and goes to town! Somehow he has good luck doing it.
