park brake pedal

I'm looking for ideas for a park brake pedal. I think I want one that will bolt to the left kick panel and have a pull to release like the original one. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks

I've got one like that out of some donor car that I scrapped out around the time I was doing my three week throw it back together from a bare frame thing in 1989. It's up way higher than it needs to be because I have a speaker box below it. The cable runs down through the original park brake hole.

I think I'd look in mid 70's 80's Chevy trucks first though. Two holes in the firewall and one in the side with maybe a nutset and done. That is pretty close to what I used. The guy hacked the cable off on this one so it isn't any good for a swap but you can probably find one with a cable at Pick a part or Teepee or maybe at at the Boneyard by the rodeo grounds in Toppenish. I don't know if Max still lets guys out in his get it before it's crushed section at M&R anymore or not. I haven't hit the wrecking yards much in the past couple of years and am a bit out of touch.

I scored a NOS pedal and cable from a 90's chev truck for $20. Very similar to the one above.

I redid the original brake release to work with the new pedal. There are nuts welded to back of kick panel to bolt it to.

Here is it mocked up on the kick panel before kick panel was installed. Note that the pedal has been both shortened and rotated.

The rotation was needed so that when the unit is installed to allow full peddle travel the cable went out the toeboard at an advantageous angle, - this is 'new cable' arrow in the picture. 'Cable' pointing straight down is what I would have had without the rotation, this would have been difficult to deal with cable angle under the truck.
Shortening is needed or the pedal sticks out into the door opening when released.
So these mods did decrease the leverage on the pedal, it takes a harder stomp than my other trucks with similar ebrake setup, but not so much as to be a problem and it will hold on any hill.

Some day I may make a cover for it, but that is low priority

there is also the chevy S10 pedal which has the cable exiting the bottom of the bracket

I have seen a few where the hand brake style was placed in the door opening between the seat and the door. sometimes gonna be in the way though, for sure

Most of those GM brake pedals like that are quite similar except in size and how they mount. I think the one in my truck actually came out of a 74 Pontiac Catalina Wagon.
