Any carb recommendations?
Besides installing efi does anyone have a brand of carburetor that they prefer?
I have a 1984 c10 with a 305. It used to stumble quite a bit in cold weather until warm, now it stumbles no matter the temperature and seems to have a dead spot at around 1/4 throttle. It's starting to get a bit annoying and I have to really wait until the coast is clear or it could die altogether when pulling out. Any recommendations will be appreciated! |

Yeah I thought about that but at 40+ years old she's pretty worn out.
I want something fresh and tight... (carburetor) |

Re: Any carb recommendations?
I am no expert but if the throttle shafts are not loose then just rebuild it. Just grab hold of the throttle linkage and see if it has some play if so then get a newish one. These carbs are not hard to rebuild usually just need cleaned and new gaskets.

Re: Any carb recommendations?
Mine is pretty worn that's why I've decided not to rebuild it.
I think it's time for a new carb. |

Re: Any carb recommendations?
I think I'm going to give this guy a shot, it's more in my price range.
Anyone had any interactions with them? https://www.guaranteedcarburetors.co...olet-gmc-truck |

Re: Any carb recommendations?
Never heard of them.
What’s their price with no core? You definitely need to keep the carb you have. |

Could be the best 50 bucks you spent on your truck.

Re: Any carb recommendations?
That carb in the link doesn’t have the right trans tv cable hook up.
Without the right linkage you could fry your trans. Linkage adaptors are available but cost near 300 bucks. Getting a lot easier to just rebuild the one you have. |

Re: Any carb recommendations?
My Dad bought an 85 C10 brand new and it had the worst hesitation I have ever seen in a vehicle. It would fall on it's face if you tried to pass a car. Nobody could figure it out back then. I would be looking for a non-feedback carb and a vacuum distributor if it was mine.

Re: Any carb recommendations?
I ended up buying a knockoff Weber 32/36 2 barrel for the 69 in my shop, ended up going a different route and since rebuilding the 2-jet Rochester didn't work I put it on the 77 I've been working on. It works great and I see a little bit of improved MPG range with it.
