Paint color ID question

Hey guys,

I just bought a 1976 GMC k15 that is all original but has no SPID to verify paint color. I know that Tangier Orange wasn’t a standard color but could be special ordered.

I think it’s too light to be crimson red but take a look at the pics and let me know your opinion on what color this is please.

The pics are of under the floor mat behind the seat & one of the drivers side door opening under the weatherstripping.

Thanks Scott

Re: Paint color ID question

Coincidentally I cam on here to ask about a very similar looking paint color then saw your thread. I won't hijack your thread but hears the link to mine if anyone's interested

Re: Paint color ID question

I would guess Flame Red. That particular color really oxidizes and changes over time, you'd want to compare it to the underside of the dash.

Re: Paint color ID question

Does the glove box lid have a good coat of paint on the inside? If it can't be id'd here, take it to your local (auto) paint store that has a paint scanner and see if it spits out a factory color combination. Local system will spit out everything in its database, but theres also a chance it'll only provide the most current name of the color (my ford red has a few different names over the years, and more than one paint code for the same formula).
