Question for GMC 305 v6 owners

Do my valves or more generally, my engine sound like it's supposed to?

I set the valves lash as instructed every where that's GMC 305 v6 specific but I'm wondering if a valve seals or something else is bad.

It also doesn't run well in 3rd gear (3 speed on the tree muncie) and sometime stalls attempting to accelerate in 3rd which is odd since it shift decently in 1st and 2nd.

I removed the gas cap (in case it was some sort of vacuum in the tank and I also removed the air cleaner in case it was an air flow restriction.

Also, my fuel filter seems to be running low but that mght be normal?

Thanks for any feedback.

Re: Question for GMC 305 v6 owners

AP, I'd check your fuel pump. I've had early failures on my 1961 Suburban with my "NEW" fuel pump after a short time, maybe fuel starvation. Your engine running video to me sounds fine.

It has been suggested on the 6066 Forum, that the early mechanical pumps were prone to this. Which is why GMC modified the "STRAIGHT" arm to have a slight bend. Many have switched to or added an electric fuel pump.

Here is a link to that discussion:

Thanks for verifying something doesn't at least sound terribly off MusicMan.

This must be my 3rd fuel pump :-/

I think all the ones I've had since the original was replaced have a longer arm but I'll double check.

Thanks for the response.
