Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
December 20, 2024 Christmas present preview. I have been saving up for quite a while to get a nice set of rims. My dad said if I got 2/3rds of it covered he would cover the last 1/3rd for my Christmas present. We dry fit the rims just to make sure everything looked good. Definitely not going to have any of the problems we had with the 15" steel rims. Plenty of room with these new rims. This is where my $100 tire purchase from my Uncle Kade came in handy. That purchase made this tire and rim combo very cost effective. My dad's buddy Matt that used to work at a tire store came over and helped us mount the tires. We have done a lot of old crappy tires that don't matter, we were too nervous we would screw up the new rims. Matt did a good job.
We got everything mounted up and installed on the truck. Cruising main street in Gooding felt pretty good. But then my dad made me take the new rims and tires off he said I would understand soon enough.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
December 25, 2024 Best Christmas ever!! Now I know why my dad had me take the new tires and rims back off. Picture in front of the Christmas tree was definitely worth it. Lets just say I had plenty of energy to quickly put the tires back on the truck. It's going to be hard to ever top this Christmas morning. I have been dreaming about these tires and rims for years. Not to mention having the truck lowered, its all just coming together so well.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
December 30, 2024 Its official she's a C10. She's no longer a camper special. I will miss the original fender badges. I thought about grinding away the custom camper script and replacing it with something that fit the truck like 5.3, etc. But I've always really like the bow tie c10 badges. I think the custom camper badges will have to be attached to my tool box for old times sake.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
Sorry it has been so long since I have posted any progress. Going back and starting from the beginning has taken more time than I thought it would. It definitely would have been easier if I had done this as I went. I have more that I will post once I get the pictures organized. Thank you for taking the time to look through my build. I will try to be a little quicker this next time.
I tried to figure out why the pictures kept going sideways but never got it figured out. I was wondering if there was a moderator that could help me get them straightened out.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
January 1, 2025 Happy New Years, my truck was able to bring in the new year partying with my brothers '71 C10 and my other brothers '72 K5. Took the truck to a new years party with friends and got a thumbs up at the gas station and plenty of compliments from my buddies, its amazing what new rims can do for an overall look.

January 5, 2025 Took the truck to church. Buddy buckets sure come in handy when you're going three across.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
January 18, 2025 Soldered up a power cable for my stereo system. Tied it into the positive cable junction block for the LS. Used a dremel to make a cut out so it will close back up and look more factory. Added some split loom so it matched all the other wiring under the hood. Ran it along the frame rail and up through the back of the cab where the old gas line used to be. One less wire going through the firewall.

March 2, 2025 Moved my truck out of the way for family coming over, parked in front of our trailer. Thought it looked pretty cool, so I snapped a picture, now I need to install a hitch. Be pretty cool to find a vintage teardrop trailer to haul around someday.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
April 13, 2025 My mom's friend came down to take some senior pictures. For once I was excited for pictures. Incorporating my truck made all of the difference, even got a couple with the Harley.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
April 14, 2025 Had a athlete-parent meeting for the Senior Shriner North vs. South Football game. My dad and I figured it would be a good time for a cruise. We figured this cruise being 160 miles round trip a good time to check our MPG. 21MPG!! Super happy with that.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
May 17, 2025 Just got my senior pictures back. Turns out my burnout mark was still visible on the bridge going to my house, had to get a picture with that. My dad helped me sneak the Harley into the high school hallway, too bad we couldn't fit the truck. Here are some of my favorites:

April 15, 2025 Senior Project Presentation. I was able to present to the school and community what I did to my truck for my senior project. I had slides show pictures and gave commentary. It was nice to get a ton of feedback on how they liked my project.

June 6, 2025 High School Graduation
My dad snapped this picture as I drove away to Graduation. Wish I would have got a better picture with me in my gown next to my truck, but it was a busy night 4 years of high school done, I was nervous to give my valedictorian speech but it went well My Dad and I snuck out for a cruise before my Senior Sneak, we went and got Mountain Dew for my all nighter

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
June 15, 2025 My $100 tires have done me well for the last 5,000 miles for the most part. Notice my front end seemed to vibrate a little more than usual. Took a look at the front tires and it looks like its time for some new front shoes.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
July 18, 2025 Finally got some new front tires from delivered and we decided to go with Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 255/40ZR20. Wanted to get some for the back as well, but I am saving up money for my two-year religious mission. Plus, I want to have a few more guilt free burnouts and hopefully they need replaced while I'm gone so it won't be on my dime. We also had to fix one of the rims because it hit a rim, but it wasn't a 60,000lbs press couldn't fix.
I can't believe how much better the truck drives with new front tires. The old ones had flat spots and always had a vibration. With the new tires it drives so smooth and quiet.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
July 1, 2025 Soon I will be leaving home for a two year religious mission. Before I go I wanted to go on one more road trip with my dad and the truck. First stop was to see my Uncle Kade and get a picture with his 1972 Cheyanne Super.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
Second Stop was to go see my grandma. We tried to take a picture similar to when we picked the truck up.
We even did some yard work pulling some bushes for my grandma.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
Third Stop was and final stop was the most important on March 5, 2020 was the day we trailered Minty Fresh back home. On the way we stopped at the cemetery where my grandfather is buried. We told him the plans for the project and promised that once we got the truck seaworthy, we would be back for a visit without the trailer. It felt great to make good on that promise. It took over 5 years but it was well worth it. Trucks are great but family is better.

Re: Jack's Minty Fresh 68 Build
In a couple of days I will be leaving home and my truck for a couple of years to go preach the gospel. This will probably be my last post for a while. Hopefully while I'm gone my dad and brothers won't wreak my truck. When I get back I hope to take my truck to college in Utah and continue to use it as my daily driver. Once I start working on it again in a couple years I promise to post the progress.
