Slick 50 and stuff
What do y'all think about the motor and transmition conditioners like Slick 50 for older motors and trasmitions? Im thinking about doing the motor and also the transmition as some preventive maintanice. Any thoughts on this type of thing or a good brand??

ive never used slick 50 ... i've used marvel mystery oil and Restore .... cant say that they helped much .. kinda a waste of money

In my opinion, Slick 50 is a waste of money. They were reprimanded by the government several years ago for making false claims about their product.

only "fix in a bottle" that has done anything at all for me is Seafoam. Expecting a bottle that costs $5 at NAPA to do the effects of rebuilding the engine is not only unreasonable but stupid IMHO.

never tried a fix in a bottle (yet), but i use all the Valvoline MaX Life products and they work great. Oil, ATF, even brakes i think. Max Life is definately worth the money. My timing is bad and my valves used to rattle during the summer, but after changing my oil with ML no more valve rattle. they put something in it that treats the valve train. Definately one of the best things ive done for ol red.

slick50 and other stuff is useless...
Maxlife does work well, i am planning that with my next oil change and tranny flush if you look around WalMart and AutoZones and other places have most their Slick50 stuff on clearance due to the problems that slonaker mentioned

Some of those concoctions can even make minor problems like oil leaks get even worse...

i use mobil 1 and nothing else, i want to see data and test done to show that thoes micrle oils are worth anything.

I Use The Lucas Transmission Fix From Day 1 In My 88. She Has 170,000 And Shifts Like New. I Like Lucas Fuel Injector Cleaner Also

My old TH700 was going down hill fast but after I put in Lucas transmission fix it helped with the slipping alot. I had a feeling the tranny would quit without warning because the Lucas was hiding the signs. It did work though!
