Yeah they are pretty salty and you hear great things about them usually but if it does go bad its expensive repair since they don't want you in there. "Send it back and we will let you know how much it costs afterwards."
I've talked about this idea on my one offroad forum but I have had it rolling around my head for at least 15 years. I actually wouldn't be the first person to do it as there is a canadian K5 blazer on unimog axles that did it and a land speed racer used one. Buy a np203 doubler kit but turn the range box backwards for OD instead of UD. I was thinking the .50 OD paired with 3rd in my SM465 would give me a .85 OD. Add a switch on the gear stick like the medium duty high\low rear axle switch with an actuator on the range box and only shift it either at a stop or while clutching in 1st to split 1st gear between 6.56 and 3.28 (very close to the stock 2nd gear of 3.58) then just go through gears like stock. |

Re: 1964 GMC 1500 "crustine" semi- build.
Well not much to report other than I've just been driving the ol truck weekly to work and doing my side mechanic work on the weekends with her as well. Still got the 502 and 4 speed/ gear vendor swap to do but I've been scheduled out on weekends so far out I haven't had time to start it!
A buddy of mine that has a large firewood selling business that I work for on the weekends made me some stickers for the doors of the truck and I decided to paint the rims as well. I'm diggin the new look haha All to report for now! Soon as I swap in that GV setup I'll be posting! ![]() P.S. Forgot to add...... the sticker is "WWP Mobile Mechanic Services" My buddy's yard is Wargin Wood Products and since I service the fleet he did that and added the mobile mechanic part. haha Works!
