'83 High Sierra 2500 transmission

Can someone help me put an ID to the 4 speed in a parts truck I just picked up? I heard that it's not necessarily a Muncie SM465 in it. Haven't crawled under it to get a closer look. No VIN, or SPID in it. came with a 305/4spd. w/hydro clutch, semi floating 14 bolt rear. Thanks for any help.

EDIT: So I got a late night burst of energy since the temps dropped below 90 degrees here. Looks like a Muncie SM465 to me. I didn't realize '83s had juice clutches. I have no experience with them, is that good or bad?

Does it still have the shifter with knob? If it had L it is a 465. the other 4 speed was the A833 overdrive which will have the OD on the knob. I would find it unlikely that that was put in a 3/4 ton.

Yeah, that's exactly what I figured. The "other" 4 speed the guy was trying to describe had to be some sort of OD tranny during that time period. I just kept my mouth shut not wanting to engage in any more conversation than was needed to finish our business. He had no idea what he was babbling about, trying to impress someone with his vast "nonknowlege", cornfusing the situation. Just a quick peak under the truck before I loaded it, I was already 99.99% sure it had the SM465 in it before he began his spiel. This guy is very young. He's trying. And that's about all I can say for him. I've tried to help him a couple times in the past, only he's way too smart to explain things to.... One of those intellectual types that should stick to a different hobby. Left the hood off the truck for a year and a half, nothing covering the engine. wanted the engine back for his 19 year old brother "if" I decided to pull it out..... lol. I remember hating my brother like that too back then.

Now to do some research on the hydro clutch slave that's on it. Thanks for the reply.
