Talking New K5 to me.

I bought another K5 I’ve lost track of how many I’ve had over the last 30 years. Interesting story, I bought it from a local small mom and pop dealer that works out of his house. He just picked it up from an estate sale. The original owner in his 90s passed away. So I’m technically the 2nd owner on paper, as he handed me the pink slip with the original owner’s signature on it. Has the protect o plate. With a good amount of paperwork. I believe it has 97,800 original miles. It might even be the original paint. When the dealer went to pick it up from the estate, it was in the garage. No rust. California truck all its life and only one owner who looks like he took good care of it. I would like to keep it all original. Where can I get the front seat material? As they are sports buckets with non CST black vinyl pattern. I don’t think they sell this pattern anymore Thanks, Wayne

Re: New K5 to me.

Nice truck!

The ones I've seen around here, rusted out with no straight panels and no powertrain, they're asking $8k to $10k.

Re: New K5 to me.

I believe the utility bucket seat cover would match your back seat, bought mine from SMS, back and bottom of seat is two different patterns

I believe you have the wrong bucket seats in there Just a guess

I agree. My truck came with utility buckets (which I prefer) and this was the original rear seat pattern which is the same. I believe those buckets in Old Skool's truck are not original.
I just checked my SPID and it's almost identical. I believe if the truck came with buckets, it would be listed on the SPID. Maybe someone with more knowledge will confirm.

Re: New K5 to me.

Nice find, enjoy. The front seats look correct. No utility buckets for MY 72.

Why are they not listed on his SPID?

Here's one I found, and it specifically states if a vehicle had buckets or not.

Deadhead may know, but my guess is because it wasn't an option. 72 was sport buckets only, that's a 71 spid.

Re: New K5 to me.

Been doing a lot of work to the Jimmy lately. 3” lift, tires, wheels. Ripped out the interior. Lo and behold virgin floors with original paint and no rust!!

That is a rare find for sure. Finding one with intact rockers and floors is amazing.

I like it much more now than with the standard seat pattern.

Re: New K5 to me.

Is the blue decal with assembly month still on the LH door? Curious when it assembled. Looking great.

Re: New K5 to me.

The build date is 6/72 on the blue decal on the door. The chalk marks under the hood say 5 72. I lifted it 3” and new wheels and tires.
