Asking for pictures of genuine “Patina” trucks.

I know this is a strange thread request.
I’m very close to prepping my truck for a new complete painting.
I’m going to paint myself, so I know there are going to be flaws (I haven’t painted anything in many years, but back in the day I was pretty good), so I’ve settled on a “Patina Style” finish.
My truck was repaint once with a low quality enamel so I have no way to know how it would have “weathered”.
What I’m looking for is pictures with the “Common” wear patterns on the hood, top of the fenders, and top edge of the box, so I can replicate it on mine.
Again, I need actual patina pictures, and not faux finish
Thanks in advance

Re: Asking for pictures of genuine “Patina” trucks.

My 67 i recently sold. Notice the driver side has much more patina than the pass side. It was parked for many years and that side was facing the sun.
Don't mind the tailgate, that is "fake patina" not by me...

I've been keeping an eye on your for sale post. Liked that truck. Where did it get off to?

Re: Asking for pictures of genuine “Patina” trucks.

I don't call it patina as patina comes on well cared for but showing it's use things like a nice old saddle.
My 71 GMC has kinda of patina on the still orange part in that the paint showed it's age but didn't have a bunch of rust. The nose was after my aunt wrecked the truck and the only affordable nose I could find was one off a 70 Chevy including painted bumper. I had primered it black when I put it on but the primer had faded after a while.

This was just after I put the wheels on it and had it cleaned up a bit.

It ended up in southern MN, a few hours away. A father and 14 year old got it as a driver/project. That kid was smiling so big when we loaded it...
They have contacted me a few times since looking for parts and letting me know updates on it. It went to a good home this time i think.

I agree.
After a whole lot of thought (and a few beers), the seasoned/weathered appearance is what I’m gonna go for.
Inside the cab there’s scratches scuffs and wear marks that I want to keep, and it wouldn’t look right to have a shiny new paint on the outside.
It took 55years to develop those wear marks and I don’t want to just cover them up.
Imperfect perfection is what I’m gonna end up with

Re: Asking for pictures of genuine “Patina” trucks.

Now that all the photos finally loaded, I will say it again.
Thank You ALL, for the pictures of your trucks.
Now the only detail I have to come to terms with, is do I want a SHINY finish or a SATIN finish?
Maybe mix the clear to a Semi Satin?

Re: Asking for pictures of genuine “Patina” trucks.

I need to stop overthinking this Satin/Gloss debate.
I look at all the pictures of those that appear unbuffed or shiny wax, and man do they look good, and then I see “68bowtie’s” truck.
Flat
Semi-Gloss
3/4Gloss (Semi-Satin)
Gloss
These are my choices for the Clearcoat
