ls alt output
Thinking of upgrading my stock factory alt . My LS1 is out of a 2002 Trans am. When I turn on my ac the vots drop to a level I am not comfortable, only at idle . once in motion all good. I think factory is 102. In that case I am looking for a 110 upgrade. Thoughts

Re: ls alt output
need to make sure that when ac comes on that he pcm bumps the rpms up likw 250 rpms and that will solve your low voltage issue

Re: ls alt output
I am not smart enough to do that. My experience with taking my truck somewhere for repair has been horrible. It is running so well I hate to have someone tell me they can fix it and screw up things (as in the past) and never fix my problem. I remember when I installed my harness (oem rebuilt) there where 2 wires I didn't hook up that were marked TCC and Tach. What is the TCC? I know what the tach is,

I may be totally off base but is the TCC Torque Converter Control connection? Controlled by the ECM TC lock up wise.

Re: ls alt output
My LS1 is also out of a 2002 TransAm
I put a 140 amp alternator on it and I just a few days ago, bumped up the base idle settings by 75 RPMs That made a difference in the idle when the AC compressor kicks on. I'm looking at wiring it so the PCM will sense the compressor and bump it another 50-75 RPMs I'm not sure about voltage drop because I haven't actually monitored it on the scanner. I'll take a look next time I'm under the hood.

Re: ls alt output
Thanks for the TCC info. Everything in trans works great so I am not going to mess with it.
Keep me posted on how you plan on bumping up the pcm function. I look forward to following this update. Thanks |

Re: ls alt output
Not a new problem. Been this way since I had my ac put into service.
I just avoid turning it on unless I am on the highway. The truck has no issues with charging with the lights on at idle. I may need to change out cooling fans as the ones in there Ipulled from some dodge suv I bought at pick your parts and they me just be drawing to many amps. |
