Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Here are some progress pics of the door panels. They are going together good, just need to figure out some spacing on the door and panel with the handles and also how to mount the pull strap, because the bracket is a bit bulky than I was hoping.

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Started mocking up the raised bed floor. I was able to pick up some wheel hubs and some wood. Earlier last year I got a good deal on some metal bed strips as well. All Im missing is some square tubing to start building my frame.
In the future, I will C notch the frame. So I left the original hubs in and have the new ones in place. This will give the look Im looking for and also be ready later. You'll have to stick around and see if this turns out how I planning

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

I was able to figure out a good mounting spot for the handle pull and have the panels installed. Now seeing the shot from the inside, I'm thinking I may have to make some kick panels

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

touched up my door logos by hand painting them this time. also gave a drop shadow. I'm liking how they turned out, compared to before.

Also made a chrome badge for my air tank to give it a more finished look.

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Last couple of weeks I have been putting in some time fabbing up my raised floor frame. Got the inner part done, Now just need to add the outer framing and make up the door that will show off the air ride equipment.

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

I took this old tool box I had laying around and painted/weathered it. Also Printed up some stickers of 70s era companies. I thought it would be cool to have a bed prop that could have been in the back of the tire shops work truck.
Ill have it bolted down so it cant get stolen. Also it will be a good place to lock things up when at the shows or just taking it out while doing some errands.

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Worked on the hatch frame. When I was at my metal supplier, they had bowties for sale so I had to incorporate it into the project Still trying to figure out a hinge option. One that will not hang up on the 1 3/4" of thickness (1" of steal and 3/4 wood) If you have any ideas and pics, please share also ones that wont break the bank! Ive seen the ones that are $500+

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Added some color to the bowtie. I plan on doing a black stain on the wood, so I think it will look good and pop with the green

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Got some more work done on the bed floor. I had to weld up almost every hole in the wear strips, since Im having a way different lay out with the trap door and all. After that I started cutting down the strips and working with the boards, getting them cut to size.
Im liking that Im finally getting to see what the raised floor will look like.
Next will be to router out the boards to accept the wear strips. one step at a time!

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Some more progress on the bed. I have all the wood pieces router out and now will be going through the sanding/finishing process. Also was able to get some scissor hinges made up from a friend and installed with some gas struts.

They turned out great These help get the door up and out to clear the wood and also hide underneath when closed.
they are modeled off of another hinge out there that cost $500. I didn't want to spend that and when you have illustrator and a friend with a laser CNC, can save some money
I wish it would open up a bit more but i think it still is a good angle to shows off the tank and compressors

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

Getting Closer! I have the wood pretty much sealed up. I wanted the wood to be black, but with the spar urethane giving it a warm feel, I'm not hating it
I still need to re-route the filler hose and some other odds and ends, then I can get it all bolted down.

Re: 1970 Jiffy Mount Tire C10 build

I just found your thread today, fantastic workmanship! This will certainly be a truck that will turn heads at the car shows. Keep up the great work, I look forward to seeing what else you plan. BTW, I loved the headliner, great idea to use magnets to keep it attached!
