The tops of the condenser mounting brackets and the receiver/dryer. I guess I could trim the brackets and punch a hole for the receiver/dryer. I haven't gotten heavy on it since I licked the hot running issues.

Cleaned up the engine bay by treating the surface rust on the master cylinder and combo valve. The Seymour Cast Blast is amazing. It dries super fast and looks great.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

New radiator came in yesterday . I ended up with a Cold Case as Amazon’s had one for $215 about 200 off the list price . Description stated new condition but damage packaging. I took a chance and it’s exactly as stated box was beat up (they put the box inside another) but the radiator itself was untouched . Also got the transmission cooler went with a big one since the 2800 stall will generat a lot of heat . No picture of the radiator but the cooler is nice Derale 9500 series

You will like the Derale transmission cooler. I just installed one in my S10 drag truck and it made a world of difference in cooling the transmission using a 4900 rpm stall converter.

Yank converters recommended the cooler . It’s really big in the future when I put AC on the truck it may be a little difficult to hang it all in front of the radiator. But I’ll figure something out at that time

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

My A/C belt started to squeal a couple of days ago, so I ran no A/C planning to change all three this weekend. I fired Otis up Friday and heard what I thought at first to be a small engine fuel pop but had no power steering...yep A/C belt popped off and derailed the P/S belt.

So, It was belts for Otis Sunday.

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Started getting ready to change out the cab mounts . Was a little surprised to see that both front bolts were welded to the floor . I carefully peeled the tar coat of from around the bolt and found this . The 68 stepside nor the 72 had that thick tar paper just the white foam insulation under the rubber mat

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

The front nuts and the rear bolts came off with little resistance. But I was worried that I wasn’t going to be able to lift the cab high enough to remove the front bushing but it wasn’t a problem at all . And my OCD is kicking in I’m almost compelled to sand and paint the frame .

I changed them on the 68 and the 72 . Makes a big difference in the ride also as long as you use the rubber and not the poly mounts

Re: What did you do to your truck today. The 3rd chapter

Changed out the 2447 to the new 2947 . Hayden came with this one to bring the fan further away from the radiator when you put in an oversized core. I used it because I have a long pump setup on the 72 was that way when I bought it . The clutch shaft is about 1/2 to 5/8 inch shorter so it moved the blades closer to the edge of shroud . Only problem was getting the nuts on took a lot finagling but I finally got it not much room between the hub and the studs actually had to put each one on a thread or to before moving to the next . Hub actually hit the nut and wouldn’t go on if I threaded it any more .

The fan is still in further than stock but much better now .
