Exclamation Re: Low Oil Pressure & None @ the Rockers

The question remains = why didn't you pull any bearing caps ? .

Re: Low Oil Pressure & None @ the Rockers

Well, the pan is coming back off tomorrow to do a little more digging. I have some time and the weather is nice so I'll give it another shot. I got in touch with the PO and he told me he thinks he remembers his dad telling him he did have the engine rebuilt at some point.

I'm not sure how true that is being I've seen factory parts / brackets on this engine I haven't seen on any of the previous trucks I've owned.

But I understand there is a plug under the last cap that if not there you get little to no oil getting to the top end. I'll check that out first and report back.

Re: Low Oil Pressure & None @ the Rockers

I was able to take off the oil pan, oil pump, and rear main cap this morning. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think !

Thanks Scott

Re: Low Oil Pressure & None @ the Rockers

Well just for sh… & grins I decided to pull the center cap ( Stamped 3 ) to see what it looked like. I’m going to assume this is not good. Also going to assume that if the rod bearings look like this the cam bearings probably do also.

Please let me know if my thinking is off base or am I looking at a rebuild in the future to save this engine ?

Thanks Scott

Clearly oil is _NOT_ reaching the bearings either, I wonder how the crank journals look .

Obviously something is *VERY* wrong, don't run it until you figure out what .

The groove you mentioned before, is that possibly the problem ? .

Re: Low Oil Pressure & None @ the Rockers

Those bearings are worn out, at the end of their service life... To coin a phrase from an old movie: You have two choices, maybe 3 choices.. Follow my original suggestion in post #4.. Roll in a set of rod and main bearings and hope for the best. Or #2 -- Pull the engine and do a full rebuild...

Third choice??? Well, do nothing and drive it till it blows up....
