Re: pdx-sanity66

I've just always used the garden hose kits that go in the heater hose and take the thermostat out to circulate it. I've heard of guys using CLR or white vinegar but thats if you have flow, do you have 0?

The serpentine pumps rotate the other way....

I owe you a big apology for not listening to you about the pump. I thought I was buying the correct pump and that is what I asked for at my local parts store. (Damn, I hate those places, and this is one reason of many that I hate dealing with them) and the pumps look identical from the outside. I removed the pump and verified that it was the wrong pump. So, when I took it back, I had a few choice words for the guy that led me astray and I got my money back. I did not want to deal with them anymore so I went to a different store and bought the correct pump. guess what? I now have circulation.

Re: pdx-sanity66

My Sanity has left the building. I got everything put back together and took a test drive around my neighborhood and everything worked. I need to test when the weather is HOT, but it works. There were times I didn't think I could get the job done because of several issues along the way. Now I have a lot of cleanup on the truck after being jacked up in the shop for awhile. So far so good.

Thanks Herold. I've got some driving to do, and I need to do some major cleaning after this fiasco. And then there is my AC to finish.

Re: pdx-sanity66

A late reply but there are flush solutions available that may help the rust in the cooling system issue. https://www.evapo-rust.com/thermocur...-rust-remover/

I'm not endorsing the product, just using it as an example.

Thanks for the info b8ut I have Sanity back on the road and it is working very good. It is so good to be able to drive it again. I've got some serious cleaning to do and some finish up on a few other small projects.

Re: pdx-sanity66

So, I went to put my overflow tank in but I couldn't get it back in where I had it. When I installed the temp controller, I didn't have room for the tank. I found another tank that I was able to install next to the battery. It fit really nice there. I don't have pics, yet, but I'll get some posted later along with the temp controller. Sorry, I know everyone likes pictures.

Re: pdx-sanity66

I haven't posted for months. During this time, I have flushed, and rebuilt most of the cooling system except for the radiator. replaced the hoses and added a new water pump. I don't know why I decided to add a new Vintage Air gen5 system to the truck at this time but I did. What a job that has been but I got it all done except making the controls talk to the ecu. So far so good, I thought.
I started up the truck and moved it from the shop to the carport with plans on washing it up.
The next morning I started up the truck. I sounded just fine, BUT, when I shifted into reverse I got a sound like something really breaking loud and shuddering. I got it started it again in park but if I try to shift out of park it was a no go and sounds terrible. So right now, Sanity is DEAD out in the yard and I'm Totally Done for now. So I guess I'm going to be needing a trans specialist at some point.
