WTB NOS tailgate band
I need an NOS 71, 72 Cheyenne wood grain tailgate band (applique) with chrome letters. I need chrome letters. I have one with painted letters.

GM part number 3955316
Early on the service replacements from GM had the chrome pot metal letters as original, then they switched to chromed plastic letters, then onto the crappy painted plastic letters. Haven't seen too many of the correct NOS units. Good luck!

Re: WTB NOS tailgate band
I have a couple of older tailgate bands and they have chrome metal letters.

Re: WTB NOS tailgate band
I bought one from this company about 5 years ago. Not nos, but a very correct made in the USA reproduction. It was made to order when I got mine.

Being disappointed with GM's decision to totally cheap out and switch to dull junk plastic lettering, I went with the Trim Parts brand applique. In my opinion it is better than the last of the OEM GM replacements, using authentic chrome metal letters, and just overall great fit and quality. I know there are fussy owners that insist on NOS GM at all costs, but in this case and the case of the NOS GM service replacement painted plastic dash gauge bezels, repro is actually better.
