Looking For Help And Guidance For Outer Floor/Inner Rocker Replacement
Attached are a couple of pictures of my lower hinge/A pillar and my lower latch/B pillar. First, I would like to remove the outer floor/inner rocker. The inner rocker is sandwiched between the cab supports and the lower pillars with spot welds, bolts and nuts. I am looking for a way to remove those pieces of the outer floor/inner rocker and replace teh outer floor/inner rocker with the AMD/Tri Plus outer floor with inner rocker panel (part number 406-4067-1R). I am trying to avoid having to remove the lower pillars, since they are in relatively good shape (and avoid the extra work and cost of removing and replacing). For reference, I will have to replace the lower section of the kick panel and the lower portion (about 3") of the cab corner.
Looking forwared to hearing back! MCSETots

Re: Looking For Help And Guidance For Outer Floor/Inner Rocker Replacement
I used a 1/4 drill bit to go after the spot welds. I tried a rota broach type bit but couldn't sharpen it, so went with the standard bits. My favorite tool with the drill bit was a very flat thin cold chisel to get between the layers. If drilling didn't cut all the way through a spot weld, sliding the flat chisel in there and tapping it in would pop the weld apart nicely. I did inner and outer rockers plus some floor replacement on both sides of my cab. Ill throw some pictures up if you want when I'm at my othe confuzer.

Re: Looking For Help And Guidance For Outer Floor/Inner Rocker Replacement
I'm pretty sure I did exactly what you are asking, except I had the cab support out at the time so I could replace it too.
Don't be afraid to cut something out that you have to weld back in.... or cut your patch panel in half to get it in. Yes it's extra work, but better than struggling to get it in place... edit: went and looked through my pictures and didn't have any of doing that work... |
