2 Wheel Drive To 4 Wheel Drive

I have a 1976 GMC 2 wheel drive that I thought about selling to buy a 4 wheel drive but the price range of those is more than I can justify. I have found several 81 and up 4x4 chassis' that I can purchase to do a swap.

Has anyone here done this?

What problems did you encounter?

I know the front of the frame rails are a little different but can that work with some fab work? The center trans tunnel is bigger. What other differences are there?

Re: 2 Wheel Drive To 4 Wheel Drive

I've done 4wd to 2wd recently.
And if I was to do it again, id cut the frame at the cab mount and weld the swap frame on.
So many little differences.
