Broken Valve Body Springs

Anyone know where I can source a detent valve outer spring for a TH350 valve body? Or is there a spring from something else I might be able to substitute? I took my valve body apart to install a shift improvement kit and found two broken springs. The one on the 2-3 shift valve is broken in two. Replacements for those come in various shift kits. However the detent spring on mine is broken in four pieces and I can’t find a source. I see a used one on eBay for $25, but that seems silly and want to see if there might be another source or kit that may have what I need that I may not know about.

Summit does have this kit with springs.

It's $70.23 they may have a black Friday code.

Just an option and they are new and next day shipping.

It does have springs but not the one spring I need. Not the detent roller. It's the outer detent spring that goes on the kick-down valve. It's #28 in this diagram (Not 21 that's circled).

You might want to try a local, non-chain, transmission rebuilder. Kinda doubt you will be able to find that on the shelf somewhere.

Looks like they call it a Detent Valve Outer Spring and GM didn't sell it separately it was part of the valve body kit

Is there anything that could be substituted? What would happen if a stiffer spring was used would it make a big difference? It's just for the kick down/passing gear right?

Where could I find specs for that spring?

Re: Broken Valve Body Springs

Maybe check Craigslist for a local backyard trans rebuilder. They might have odd spare parts or an old valve body laying around.

Try a local trans shop or salvage yard
