Re: Red Truck 2.0

Right before I got the OBS done they announced the Hot Rod Power Tour dates and venues. I have done a few partial power tours in my T bucket and Camaro, but always wanted to long haul. So now I have a dead line to drive the truck on Power tour.
When I got the truck back in the garage, i got started on the interior. I put some "sound deadener" down and wired up the stereo. I installed a factory digital stereo and ran the same Kenwood bluetooth amplifier i have in my Camaro. The factory stereo works through the amp until I turn on the bluetooth. I also still have the Crunch sub boxes and alpine amp that was in the truck from high school. So i ran all the wiring before installing the carpet. Also installed new Kenwood dash speakers and 4x10's in the rear. Had my friend at work 3D print a block off plate for the ash tray to install the controller for the bluetooth amp on.

Re: Red Truck 2.0

After the stereo was working, I got the carpet seat and seatbelts installed. After that i got the power windows and locks wired up because this was a non power truck. I used all factory wire harnesses for it but did the relay upgrade at the doors to make the windows faster. Then I got all the headliner trim and board cleaned up and ready to go in. It's wild because I have had this parts for quite a few years now and had to keep shuffling them around and now they are all getting installed.

Re: Red Truck 2.0

The whole time you had your interior out, you should have had me restore your seatbelts, gotten them cleaned up.
It’s looking like a truck again

Re: Red Truck 2.0

I installed the dash pad that was in the truck when it was stolen for now. You can see where the thieves pried against it to get the vin plate ripped out of it. I'm shopping for a new dash pad but the reviews on most of them are not that great.
I also got the door panels installed that where out of a 90 suburban. The Burgundy's do not really match. The interior is pretty much done for now. I have a few more details to do around the truck and it is ready to be a driver,

Re: Red Truck 2.0

When my dad restored the truck in the early 2000s he shaved the fuel door and put in a fuel cell. I wanted to put a factory tank so i put it on the passenger side this time to offset the weight and maybe get a little less of the chevy lean.
I needed a place for the filler neck and a friend of mine had this old jerry can. I cut the bottom out of the can and installed the filler neck in the can and routed it through the bed floor. Now I have to repair the spot in the floor where the fuel cell was.

Re: Red Truck 2.0

Glad to see progress on the OG Red. I understand that feeling of coming out the next AM to an empty spot where your nice truck once was.

Re: Red Truck 2.0

My whole family decided at the last minute to do power tour with me. Since all couldn't fit in the truck my wife followed in her daily. My Daughters were supposed to switch out. My youngest started in the truck and then never gave up her seat. She says it is her truck now.

First pic is Monday morning when we were about to leave. My youngest is in the visor.
i was able to park in some good company
and a couple of artsy pictures.

i have a ton more pictures too. Truck did great no problems the whole week. only thing i had to do was add a half quart of oil mid week. The whole build had about 300 miles on it before i left. The trip was just over a 1000 miles for me. It was actually pretty close to home.

I was worried about the wife and kids being bored. They had a blast and are already conspiring about next year. My wife and oldest want a "cool" car. It will probably be My father in laws 72 cutlass convertible I just finished ls swapping.

Re: Red Truck 2.0

While I was at the Fort Wayne stop, I was walking by this truck as it was leaving. I noticed a small rust spot on the bed and I was like thats weird that is where my old truck was rusted. I looked at the truck again and it was my old truck. It was the 87 GMC I had right After the OG red truck was stolen.
I talked to the guy and he has LS swapped it and added a T56. It was cool to see it especially on power tour and in a different state.
The top picture is it now and the bottom is the day it left.

Re: Red Truck 2.0

Thanks TKCR and PowerdbyChevy79!
I switched the wheels a few times(the Centerlines are my favorite) and it was my daily all summer. Never skipped a beat. It is put away for the winter now and I'm gathering parts for a engine change possibly this winter.
