Exhaust question
Has anybody had any experience, either good or bad with custom fabbed exhaust manifolds? I guess it would be more like a set of headers if my exhaust guy just bent them himself.

I just seen a set on a 1949 F**D pickup with a big block they were like 2 1/2" in dia. (the headpipes) and it took the guy like 20 + hours to bend and weld them together. He had a special collector with gates fabricated so he could run them open, I'll see if I can get pic for you (of the headers only, lol). They would no doubt be pricey to build.

The guy I talked to said he can bend them for $25 plus an hour labor. I got it in writing with a life'time gaurantee. The total job, front to back - single exhaust - all brand new down to the hangers, he quoted at $240. I thought that sounded reasonable after some of the prices I've seen on the parts board for manifolds alone.
