Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Thanks. I wish it didn't quite look like it has such squared off hard lines but really that was the only way I could do it to have it functional all the time. I wanted some shade from the really sunny days so the optic lenses are visable during the day as well even with the sun shining on it through the back window.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I got the plaquards placed on the right side of the bezel. Turned out nicely! I really like the bezel and 2 knobs on each side. Symmetrical

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

My metal guy is really busy so I decided to take my fender back and add a top brace and finish the side brace for the antenna. Its a good thing he never finished the metal because I would have never been able to do the top brace with it in. My welding isn't great. Good enough for adding things like this brace that will be under the cover he will weld in though

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

When I got my dash pad dyed I got just dashes to send me 2 quarts of the dye they used so I could paint my dash smalls and the dash area behind the pad so it matches the pad and it's a much lower sheen than what my body shop gave me . Will be more like factory now. Plus I found some nice original vents that fit way nicer than the after market ones I was going to use. Its like night and day fitment .

Pieces look nice. Much better with the flatter finish.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I started getting the antenna in place tonight in-between the fender and cab and inner fender. The motor does fit in the space under the cowl nicely. Shouldn't have to make a dimple in the inner fender either so that is nice. Now the goal as I go further is to be able to remove and service this antenna only having to take the inner fender out and not messing with the fender mounting bolts at all. It will be close but im optimistic I can do that.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I used a hood brace to make my indent into the cowl. Doesn't affect the fresh air door at all.

And finally it'sa working unit on the truck. And it will come out easily with the inner fender removed. Thats what I was hoping for.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

So now that the antenna is where it should be i had to figure out how to get the cable and wires into the cab. The easy way would have been to run it under the inner fender and in thru the firewall but that leaves it close to the distributor and exhaust manifold so I decided to keep the hoe under the windshield to run it thru and I mabe another cut and added a pipe to slide it thru so the fender does not have to be removed to access it. Ill get my metal guy to finish weld these in the way he wants to. So now im done with the modifications and the cab is ready to go when my guy is ready for it.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I added a few clamps to hold the cable down and the ground strap at the bottom. Cable should run smooth once it's all finished up. Just waiting on my new grommet to run the cable into the cab.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Tonight im upgrading all my main feed wires to/in the cab harness to 10awg.instead of 12awg. I just thought the stuff I added to the truck would be better if I upgraded that part of the harness.i also removed my ammeter wiring from the truck as ill be using a volts gauge .

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Well I finally got my nos mopar antenna cable. I really like the mopar grommets because they let both the wiring and cable go thru the firewall in the same hole. Had to make the hole a bit bigger and i decided to move it over slightly as well and I moved the ground to under the cowl as well. I also cut the cable shorter so it is the correct length to get to the radio instead of having so much extra under the dash. Happy new year everyone and hopefully in the next year ill have some more complete truck stuff to share with you guys.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Thanks guys. I ended up redoing the harness to the power antenna in 14awg all the way to the motor. The original wire had a thick insulator but the wire inside looked like 18awg. I decided while im here this would be a good time to enlarge it just incase it ever jammed I wont have to worry about the wires so much and this way I can fuse it at 14 amps like the chrysler cars did. Now that this is wrapped up I have a few wiring harnesses to make/upgrade and then it's ready for the metal shop to finish. Feels good.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I had to take a trip down memory lane tonight and looked back to the beginning of your journey over a decade plus a few. I came late to the dance in 2018 but have been looking in at the amazing and SUPER CUSTOM talent you possess the ability and quality of the work and attention to detail in your build, all the mods to say are amazing is an understatement..... good luck in 2026 lets see what else you surprise us with in this NEW YEAR the road to the finish line seems to be within reach ....but who knows

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Thats awesome that you enjoy this thread. I appreciate you taking the time to read it. Im hoping I dont have much more than metal , paint and assembly so hopefully everyone will like those photos. I cant wait for those myself. But your right the light is getting visible at the end. I hope people use my ideas for inspiration for their rides as I've scoured other builds to borrow ideas for mine as well.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Here's the next few steps of my build. Wont be photogenic at all but i did get a new fuse block from lectric limited a few years back. Ill be going thru this complete harness as I did my engine bay harnesses and adding/upgrading what needs to be done. Slow and tedious but it needs to be done. After this ill finish all my power accessory harnesses but if the truck was called in for metal before I had these done they could be done afterwards.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

Since I moved my wiper arms to wet arm style I had to remedy my cowl trash guards for my cowl because the ones they make have a hole for the washer tabs to stick out inthe factory location. Also had to modify for my new routing of the washer lines.

I like that type of guard under the cowl.

Great choice.

Re: 67 GMC super custom build

I'm pretty sure these trucks would be a lot less rusty if the factory had put that type of cowl guard in from day one.

Great work as always, thanks for posting.
