53 stock column,electric P/S, 1:1.5 steering quickener, 15" wheel

In my 53 3100 I'm using the stock column. I'm using the 57-59 steering wheel so I can get the factory self cancelling turn signals and incorporate my Dakota Digital cruize control switch. I put a 15.5" ring on the 57-59 wheel and restored it with PC-7 epoxy. I installed a Howe 1:1.5 steering quickener. That brings my steering ratio from the stock 22:1 to a modern 14.6:1. 4.5 turns lock to lock. I installed EPAS Performance model specific electric power steering with adjustable gain. I rebuilt the stock box. I used 2k primer, jet black base and clear. I replaced all the bolts with ARP polished stainless 12 point bolts because I'm weird. Not much resistance with no power. If it fails it just goes to normal. I'm happy with it. I put this unit without the quickener on a friends truck several years ago and it's still working fine. It's a model specific kit so everything fits without adapting something from another application. No P/S box , pumps, hoses, belts or pulleys for me. I like a clean engine compartment. I also have an electric A/C compressor from down under with Old Air inside kit.

It tucks up under the dash pretty nice. The quickener has a 1/4" offset in it. I offset it upward and was able to take that out of the stock mount. It torques off the column and requires no mounting to the truck so you can clock it. Sorry about the small tear in the seat

looks good.
a little vinyl repair glue and possibly adding a little stuffing for comfort and the seat is back.......lol

also, I think your defrost tube has become disconnected from the heater......

Brake next
Clutch next
Elect switch on floor is high low Bea. Switch. About an inch round
Park brake next, if equipped. On a modern truck
55-59 had a hand operated park brake below the steering columnn. if your truck has an extra pedal there it was probably a retro fit from something else

Yes and the little silver tee handle above it is the pull release.

ooooo cross flow head on a 292!? Dry sump? Supercharger? t56? show us more about that!
I'm midway through swapping in a refreshed 292 for the tired 250 in my '52. Just stock though


Stomp starter is definitely an oddity these days, my son preserved it on his DD 46 sedan. 6 foot controls in that one.

7 is possible I remember a vehicle from my youth that had a foot activated wiper pulse switch attached to a metal ring with a rubber squeeze bulb pump for the washer fluid in the center. Can't recall what that was on, or find pictures. Anyone else recall those?
edit: foot pump/switch was on early '70s ford capri

That's 1 head for a Ryan Falconer V-12 engine, semi-hemi chamber design. It flows 340I/220E. 5 stage dry sump from Richard Childress Racing. Used about 5 hours. New internals in a classic Weiand 6-71 case with 2 Quick Fuel 650 DP supercharger carbs and a Holley 16 jet nitrous fogger plate. That's a TKO 600 on there now. I have to move up to a T56 Magnum. My first plan was 600ish HP with an iron race head and a 4-71. Now that i'm planing 1300 HP I have to step up my tranny. I have a Mcleod duel disk clutch with hydraulic T/O bearing on a press fit billet flywheel so I'm good there.

That's funny you would say that. I live in Northern Indiana and it's crappy here now. I am right now setting up my coffee table to polish the valve cover and the outside of the head. I haven't decided if I want to engrave something on the flat top of the valve cover. I'm clearly single. I polish everything. I call it micro-aerodynamics.

That is one awesome engine right there

I am a 6 cylinder guy too, I have a blown injected 202C.I. in one of my other cars - would have been way cheaper and easier to go V8 but everyone does that ..........

I understand completely. This is for my 53 Chevy 1/2 ton pickup Drag and Drive build in the crowded 8.50 second class in the quarter mile. Just imagine the smile on my face when I beat the twin turbo big blocks with my little straight six and an old school blower and carbs. This thing is going to weigh maybe 500 pounds with the 100 pound blower.

My blower will be on the passenger side near the inner fender. I'm going to have Hogan design the intake to where the carbs and half the pulley hang out of the hood. I think it will take about a 4" riser which is never a bad idea anyway. Or I could put an intercooler in there. I'm not convinced that's a good idea on the street. They use them on boats but they always run wide open. Thank you for the compliment.
