Re: 67-72 Time Capsules
Because it's a Longhorn. Camper was made for a regular 8 ft. bed.

Re: 67-72 Time Capsules
The original shell fit the Longhorn bed, and was installed in '73. I had a new shell made 10 years ago. It's the currently on the truck. Longer shells were and still are available.

Re: 67-72 Time Capsules
Yes, that trucks is a Longhorn but has a standard 8' slide-in camper. Some of the RV manufacturers back in the day did make special 8.5' campers for Longhorns. The Longhorns were basically replaced by the 'Big Dually' in '73.
The camper is a rare Silver Streak. They built high quality all-aluminum travel trailers and slide-in campers. Some said they were built even better than Airstreams.

I feel like the fans of this thread will be very interested in the truck shown in the video posted by another member in a different thread.

Re: 67-72 Time Capsules
Good instinct, that is one hell of a beauty! Love that color combo. The owner seems to have a pretty good understanding of the details too which is cool.

Re: 67-72 Time Capsules
Thanks for posting! Definitely a time capsule! One pattern seems to be developing, we are seeing higher trim vehicles, probably bought for recreational-hobby-personal use second car, not the base no frills models which were mainly bought for daily work chores.
