Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

That could explain the Special on my truck.

There are numerous places where the original paint shows and they are protected from sun or heat, so they seem unchanged. The color looks like a match for 521 White, but it could be just slightly different. It seems crazy to create another color so close to a standard GM color, especially on a government vehicle.

White wheels make more sense to make it Special.

When I got it, the wheels had been replaced with '67 truck (15x7) black wheels and '67 white dog dish hubcaps, so I don't exactly know how it was originally built. The SPID sheet makes no mention of non-standard wheels or tires so I think it did not have 3-pc wheels or tube-type tires like these Panels.

My '66 was originally used in Stockton, California- only 40 miles from Meadowview.

Wow, I've been looking at all these pics and now I hear Archie and Edith singing "Those were the Days" in my head.

Cool, you don't see many Air Force photos during Vietnam.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

Recreational use was big reason for buying pickups back in the day, the deluxe models were preferred.

(ok, the singer won't be that hard, he's in the pic). NICE truck!

OK, posted back in December 2018, (Post #1360) and I don't think anybody ever answered it.

That's John Mellencamp in the video for "This Is My Country"

A guy I occasionally play pedal steel for does this song, and I had to look up the video to learn the song. It has a couple shots that resonated with me, not only the truck but earlier in the video there a much bigger GM product - a diesel railroad locomotive made by Electro-Motive Division (EMD).

So what do I do with those "extra bonus points" which were promised?

Agreed, it is what it is. IMO, a '65 C 20 with Custom trim and solid turquoise metallic paint. Would have had the white painted west coast type mirrors and 16" lock ring wheels if was a Custom Camper.

Re: Nostalgia - Pics in Time.

Many bought 3/4 tons to carry and pull things at the same time. This one should have been ordered with a 327
