Re: Thinking about it
My biggest issue is tuning. Being I have an LS1 I need a Dyno and a person who knows how to use it. The company I’m looking at supplies a basic tune from hptuner.
$3500 for complete set up but then tuning can run anywhere from $500-$1000

Re: Thinking about it
Tuning not too difficult if you have patence to learn something new. Initial set up is not difficult but can take some effort and fabrication. Easier on a LS than a sbc or bb. Distributor fitment is a challenge but if the ecu can handle magnetic trigger distributor msd has a pretty small unit to fit past most stacks. Most all are a Chinese product. Speedmaster sells kit and can be had with very deep discount from time to time. Stand alone or full kit using FiTech efi package. Tuning was fairly easy. Setup with package provided was OK but reqired a few extra ports added to correctly accommodate needed sensors. I had mine running good. The fuel rail was too high for injectors provided in the FiTech kit included as part of complete package. Thought I spaced correctly. After about a month, number 8 injector blew out the o ring. Filled the area with fuel and the distributor lit it all off. Be sure to carry plenty coverage. I was lucky in that regard. Photo was waiting on fuel regulator but gives good idea what one looks like in a truck.

Re: Thinking about it
Ouch. That’s Not what I wanted to see. The set I’m looking at comes from Australia and I’d buy the tool they sell to balance them out. Did you do the tune yourself??

Re: Thinking about it
Do they add any HP or are they just for looks? Any dyno numbers to prove more HP? Say like to a stock a LS6/3 intake?
I wonder if Engine Masters has done any testing on an intake like that. No question it looks very cool. |

Re: Thinking about it
That's a really cute induction system, and I knew people back in the '70s who could tune them. Reminds me of the old 348s with six Stromberg 97s.

Re: Thinking about it
Individual stack injection = instant throttle response which is VERY nice.
I've always thought they were cool while curious how they might work in a 'real world' application. The intake air needs to be filtered somehow for engine longevity I'd think. A good tuner that's knowledgeable w/those systems would be a priority for me.

Re: Thinking about it
It would sound amazing as well. Might have to take the hood off for a few rippers to appreciate that induction music or go old school and have some louvers punched to let the sound out!

Re: Thinking about it
Finally got ahold of my Tuner. He said he’s done a couple of them and the kit I’m looking at looked like one of the Best he’s seen, not that he’s seen a lot of them. Anyway he said it wouldn’t be any problem He said he would come by the house with a basic tune to make it drivable and I could Synchronize the throttle bodies Then bring it to the shop for the Dyno
Best part is when I asked about Price he said because he did the original tune that he would only charge me for a Re Tune $250. Getting closer to pulling the trigger on this. Yahoo

Re: Thinking about it
Yes, it looks cool. Would I run it on a daily driver, no. How many runs or miles per year would be allowed before rebuild without an air cleaner I cannot say. A show vehicle rarely driven or a track vehicle expected to have some major service more regularly is where I see this used.

Re: Thinking about it
Yeah, they long since ditched the Mercury and went to vac gauges with dials and then 'letronic readouts, thankfully
