Anyone have a toolbox on the fender under the hood?

Does anyone have a small toolbox mounted on your front inside fender? I don't think GM ever put those on as an accessory but I think a lot of owners added them themselves especially the camper special owners

Freedom isn't safe, it requires you to take responsibility for your own life, your own safety, and your own success. It carries with it the possibility of failure and the understanding that you're working without out a safety net. If you give the state the responsibility for any of these you also give up the freedom that accompanies the responsibility.

I mounted one under the hood of my '71 4x4. Works great for holding a quart of oil, P/S fluid, oil rag, etc. Same tool box as GM put under the hood from the factory late 90's I think it was. Give me a day or two and I can get a pic posted.

Yep and they're amazing, one of my better ideas.

Been real convenient out there on the road over the years too.

I've seen it done -- especially on K/5s which don't have a lot of room in back.
Best option is a USGI surplus .50 Cal. Ammo Can. You can even attach a padlock hasp on the front if you get creative.

That's a great idea.
I have one from the Jeep used to keep spare parts in.

If your intention is to do some serious off-roading then a heavy-duty latch would probably not be a bad idea.

My truck rarely goes off the roads around here so a typical tool box with a simple latch has always been perfectly adequate for me and a simple generic tool box has the added benefit of a removable tray on top to keep the small parts, screws, bolts, etc from getting scattered among the larger tools below.

I would imagine a .50 caliber ammo can would work very well, but the ones I have are for...drumroll please...ammo.

I think it's time for an engine bath.
