fan temp switch for electric fans

I just hooked up 2x spal single speed fans using a msd solid state relay and a champion temp sensor switch. I am fighting some issues where I think the temp sensor switch is having issues. Whats a good quality temp fan switch ? Was hoping to find a 190

Painless has a complete wiring harness for fan control. I like and use the on at 205 and off at 195. Bung welded near the lower hose on the radiator.
My 98 Wrangler LS swap has used this over 16 years with zero issues.

Summit carries these Cooling Components switches in 185 or 195. They have a relatively tight 15 degree on/off spread.

Thanks will have to try one. I ordered a spal last night but might try one of these on my other truck. I usually use a pac 2800 controller but trying the msd solid state relays and a fan switch as it looks cleaner.

Also dumb question do they make a dual temp fan switch? I would love to start one fan at like 175 then 195 for the second. I do that with my pac2800 in my bronco and I like the feature. These are single speed fans so they both come on.

You can do some Googling on Taurus Fan BMW sending unit Volvo relay.

The short version is that 92-97 Volvos have 2 speed fans with a nice relay that will work with most 2-speed fans (Taurus, MK VIII, Contour....) or 2 single fans. There are 2 styles of BMW switches.

Type 1 (early):

Either of the BMW switches are M14x1.5 thread. I bought a radiator hose connector that had this thread for 1 project. Alternately on another project I bought a 3/8 to ¼ bushing and drilled and tapped it M14 to use in a manifold opening.

The beauty of this is that it does not require a computer. It is pretty easy to come up with the parts from a Pick-a-part type yard. I have found that the early style harness plugs for the BWM switch disintegrate. The angle style plug is NLA but the straight style is still around. Attached is a wiring schematic that uses a relay so that the fans don't run with ignition off. If you don't care about that, you don't need it and just hook fused battery power to the Volvo relay.

They have 2 leads, so ground issue not a problem if you want to trigger a positive lead. Come in 180, 190, & 200. Work very well in high heat (tranmission fluid coverter exit path) for me. Come in 1/8 NPT and 12mm x 1.5. So lots of options. They are a bit pricey at 35 bucks, but I found to be exceptionally reliable. They are 10amp so you must use a relay. No two stage that I am aware of with these.
