My truck starts up much better using this one simple trick

Ok, not a trick and not clickbait either, but I adjusted my fast idle this evening on my divorced choke Rochester carb. It now starts up at 1100 rpm and then settles down to @750 with the first blip of the throttle.

Freedom isn't safe, it requires you to take responsibility for your own life, your own safety, and your own success. It carries with it the possibility of failure and the understanding that you're working without out a safety net. If you give the state the responsibility for any of these you also give up the freedom that accompanies the responsibility.

No real challenge and it was easy.

1. With the truck cold I stepped on the throttle once to engage the choke
2. With the air filter off I started the truck
3. I turned the fast idle screw clockwise. It is under the divorced choke on the
passenger side front
4. Once the truck was idling at 1100 like I wanted I let it warm up a few
minutes
5. When I blipped the throttle it release the choke cam and the idle went to
normal idle speed
6. I then adjusted the idle solenoid to the park idle rpms (700-750)

Before I did this my startup rpm was about 600 and I needed to keep it throttled up a bit until it warmed up. My idle speed was also too high then once it did warm up. I am thinking some of my throttle response issues might be related because the throttle was already open past the idle circuit at 900 idle rpms.

I need to adjust mine too. I'll give it a try.
