Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

When I was a kid with his VW I did a brake job and had no large tools. I didn't know what a metric wrench was.
I bought a large pipe wrench and used a cheater pipe on it to loosen those rear axle nuts. Hey, it worked!

Yep, and that's what counts.

Spent an hour trying to adjust the brake shoes out to the drums and kept turning the adjusters in the wrong direction, so I grabbed a bolt with a nut on it so I could visualize which way to turn the darn things, then I marked them.

Got one of these self bleeders due to arrive any minute now and I have to bleed the master cylinder and all the wheel soldiers completely, anybody ever had any experience with one of these things?
https://a.co/d/0fJ8kYtI

I was using a different type of bleeder valve but that thing looks like it's accumulated a lot of corrosion over the years, so I'm thinking the insides are probably seized up too.

Hoping you bench bled the master before install. Then gravity bleed the cylinders in the normal pattern... RR, LR, RF, LF. Once you have fluid flowing from all cylinders, you can pressure bleed them again and be done.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

.

Yesterday completed my first 6 months off the drink. So, today, I'm celebrating.

I've been under the weather pretty bad for the last 4 days with either a bad head cold or flu. I remember in the past (drinking) when I'd get sick, I would look forward to being able to drink again. In the full swing of my recent bout with sickness, I didn't think of the drink at all. What I looked forward to was being able to breathe and feeling good again.

I'm celebrating 6 months of sobriety and the feeling of being healthier than I've been in at least a couple decades.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Drove down to Portland with a buddy to check out the Portland Roadster show. I haven’t been to an indoor car show in many years. Pretty large show with a ton of really great rides. No pictures though I just enjoyed the show. 400 mile round trip with a stop at In and Out Burger (single stop instead of the planned stop on the way down and stop on the way back haha).

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Went to Colorado Springs today to get my Grandson for the weekend but had to add 1 1/2 hours round trip via a detour around a fire on Fort Carson Army base. First picure 2:15 and the next around 10pm. Started early Wednesday and no containment. I hope no one gets hurt.

Was working under the Bug and once again I banged that dang flashlight off the bill of my hat, this time breaking the mount as well, so I added some Gorilla Glue and a touch of moisture as per instructions and left the room for a bit...

Holy cow I could glue a battleship to my hat and it wouldn't go anywhere!

I installed my mower deck to my X730 John Deere tractor, you know, the simple task of backing over the deck to install the driveshaft (on the deck), to the coupling on the tractor, NOTTT.

These things are great. I put two lights on the same band around my retrievers neck under her jaw. She can run full speed through the sage on the darkest night. And I know where she is. Been four years now and works flawlessly.

It keeps my hands free to wrench and directs the light beam in tight areas where another light might cast shadows.

I cut the bill down to make it easier to get into confined spaces but apparently in some cases it still wasn't trimmed enough to keep me from banging my fat head and knocking the dang thing off, breaking the mount, but that glue is pretty tough.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

X2 on the short bill.

I went out and wandered around the Portland Roadster show last weekend. I haven't been to one in 10 or more years. I was surprised to see 3 funny cars as well as other race cars on display along with a WWII Stuart tank.

I really enjoyed checking out the high school class they had. I'd say there were at least 20 cars entered from at least 5 high schools. Unfortunately my phone died early on (Which having looked at the quality of pictures it's not a terrible loss )and I didn't get many photos but, I did capture these two Burbans. I've seen the black one driving around town before.

Got the clutch unstuck on the KDX200 and took it for a rip around the property. Have all new chain sliders and rollers ordered. It's going to end up a lot like its owner. Not very pretty but functional.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Went to the DMV and got new tabs for our 80 Camaro and 98 Wrangler. Both have LS swaps. Don't rat me out to the DMV. LOL.
I was shocked as there wasn't a single person in line ahead of me. Took me about 10 minutes.
Then stopped by the local Ford dealership and scheduled an appointment to have our 20 Mustang rear view camera checked out. Big recall in affect.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

.

Went to a local kart track and drove a couple sessions in a kart...We went into the stands to watch and maybe glean something from the few drivers out there. It looked slow but I was stoked.

First session was me figuring out my machine and the track. I got 4th place out of 6 with a decent time...still 2 seconds off the pace set.

I learned a lot on the second session. Full throttle, no lift through the 2 chicanes (one almost at top speed), two others at full throttle/top speed to apex and another, a short 180, that was super slow not matter what I did. It was thrilling

Shaved off 1.2 seconds from the first session.

Throwing the vehicle toward the apex and then throwing it back the other way, toward the next apex, at speed is something new to me and I want more!!!!

Laid down the last coat of finish on a shelf I'll be putting in the carving area. Should have done it when I made and installed the table, but the space is evolving. Once the varnish dries enough not to stink the place up, I'll bring it inside. It's almost eight feet long, so difficult to get a decent pic. I'll take one once it is in place, but the pic will still probably suck.

Re: What did you do today not on your truck...

Called up to the neighbors to help terminate a rattlesnake on her deck. She had a .38 with snake shot. Turns out it was two rattlesnakes coiled together. Required two more shots. It was surprisingly loud. Headless snakes still move for a while. The unusual warm March is bringing them out.
Adds a new dimension to the Cal Fire required clearing of drying grass around the house.
