Re: I have Crossed into the LS engine Line.

I put 300k miles on one just like it. I liked it enough to replace the engine. Finally decided to get a truck (99 3/4 ton) and sold it to my nephew.

Good to know.
I think my first thing to change will be the grill.

What year is yours?
I bought a 2003 C/1500 Tahoe about two years ago. Some new features I like and some I don't.

It' a 2003 also.
The only thing so far that I dislike is the cupholders are on the floor in front of the console.
I can get used to that though.

Re: I have Crossed into the LS engine Line.

My cupholders are on a lower level than the center console, but about knee high, not on the floor. Doesn't bother me.

My Tahoe is White. White painted trucks from all the Big Three automakers from this period tend to blister and peel from the sun, I guess.
The paint starts with a little blister, then curls up and the spot expands -- down to galvanized steel.
A three inch blotch on the hood when I bought it, has advanced to a 6'' blotch. I guess I'll hit it with White Primer, then White enamel spraypaint, but it'll look like a hillbilly truck no matter what I do. It still runs, so that's not a Down Gripe.

Another issue is in the Door and Window switches. Sometimes the scroll on the Odometer line tells me my Drivers Door is ajar when it isn't.
The passenger side window doesn't always work from the drivers control switch -- or it goes down, but you gotta use the actual switch on that side and pull up to get the glass up. Window in Door #3 goes down on its own sometimes. Window on Door #4 only goes down 3''.
The Rear View Mirror control switch goes nuts if you touch it, losing any memory of where Driver 1 likes his mirrors.

I have the 4.8L LS engine, w/304,000 miles. It keeps telling me to add coolant. Until I pull a Radiator swap, I'mjust keeping it topped off with distilled water.

I have a slick greasy driveway, because of an oil leak. too.
But for $2700. two years ago, it runs. My '68 C/10 Stepside and '71 GMC Jimmy are maintenance intensive.
The '68 has a 292 CI L6, GM later tagged 4.8L. This Vortec LS V8 is also 4.8L, but they say its 294 CI.
Good luck with yours.

Re: I have Crossed into the LS engine Line.

I have been making a floor out of plywood today.

This will be the rear (Wooden floor)

I went too Home Depot for paint match and here are the results.

Cool. So you are building storage or tool access in your rear cab?

Your truck is Silver and you don't get the White Paint Leprosy.
This is a shot from 2 years ago. I thought I had a more recent pic of the same patch, but can't find it now.

The main reason I done this Plywood floor is,
I am delivering a 4th axis Centroid unit that I refurbished for a guy,
and on top of that he picked up a Shopsmith 10ER that was on FB MP in his area for me so it will get shoved in the back for the trip home.

I will be hauling lots of stuff in this thing.
I can already see this.

I am not sure what color it is yet.

Below are pictures of the paint code from Pull & Save that I got that matches my truck color.
I don't know which one is the paint code but my Brother has the same color truck and he said it was the right one

Also a Picture of the 4th Axis strapped down and ready to deliver.

Looks secure. I like the D-Rings in the deck. I like the Cigar Plug on the passenger side rear wall. Good location for a tire inflator.
