Psa!!

I just ran into town to gas up and wash our Yukon. Silver rig was GREEN with pollen!
I was behind another old gentleman washing his. He pulled out when was done and I pulled in. I stepped up to the coin drop and saw 4 minutes and some seconds left on it so I thought I'd use up his remaining time before putting any of my money in it. I figured he just got done befor his time was up. I've done that many times so the next guy might benefit from me.
I went all around my truck prewashing it and when I went to put in more money the timer had reset to 15 minutes. This is odd but I proceded to wash my truck. When I was all done I went to put the wand away and checked the timer. Now it had reset to 20 minutes. And I had not put in one quarter!
This wasn't right so I stopped at the office to report it. I said, you may not be aware but at least one wash stall is giving away free washes. He looked puzzled. I explained and he said someone must have used a credit card and did not press the green button after swiping their credit card and it will repeat over and over putting more charges on the credit card. I said, I need to pay you $10. That's what I usually spend washing mine. He said they'd already been paid by the card user, so I got a free one.
He had to go out there and reset the coin insert machine.
What if no one reported this all day?
What if the card user was someone who was there hours before I was?
Now the office can explain to an irate car wash customer why his car wash cost him so much when he sees his credit card bill.

PSA: be carefull using your cards at places like that. Read the instructions.
Got a free wash, looking good, so I went next door and filled up @ $3.19 and got a fresh coffee.

Re: Psa!!

The last time I went to the car wash the guy before me had paid with a credit card and the machine was still running. I told him and he said he thought turning the selector to off would shut it down. I let him know you have to push the red X when you're done and I had done it for him.

The one i go to from time to time shuts off at 15 minutes when using a card to prevent this. Man id be pissed if I got a huge charge from a situation like this.

Re: Psa!!

Hey Bill. I'm doing fair all things considered. I hope you are too.
I rarely use cards so I could have done the same thing not knowing to also poke a button.
