Those feelings from days gone by

I found an old clip from a track overlay file in had buried in a directory on the computer.
There was a calming feeling that always came over me as I made that last pass into a clear track. The car got quieter and not so bumpy. A feeling of relaxation and my gestation tubes in my neck would get this tickle from the engine scream. It was loud, hot, violent in some ways, and the most Zen you could ever imagine. Only once or twice a season would it come. Drag racing has it's fun but there is nothing like what comes from a road race.

I always wanted to try dirt track but never found an opportunity. Got to do one desert race but I was not so good at it. I couldn't get past selfpreservation and trust the buggy to do its thing.

Drag racing is fun but it only last a few seconds.

Yup. Back in the day
That lap time was on the slow side. I think I was time trialing so I would cycle a couple easier laps to ease the tire temps then bonzi for a single fast lap. Hitting 160 means I got a good lanch off the last corner and was attempting a fast lap or I was in that Zen place where you felt slow and run your best ever lap. Those were fun times.

I’m jealous. I’ve always wanted to give it a try! I know I would be hooked instantly. Pretty sad that they tore the track down in favor selling most of the land off. I’d be surprised if nascar ever actually builds the short track they’ve been talking about there.
