Summer plans?
Whats everyone got planned this summer with their trucks? My goal this summer is to drive mine as much as possible. I average 2500 miles a year and would like to double that this year. I hope everyone has a great summer and keep on truck'n!

Re: Summer plans?
We aren't going but the Hot Rod Power Tour is taking RT 66 from IL to Tulsa.
Sounds like a cool drive. |

Re: Summer plans?
I did power in 2022. Definitely a bucket list event for me. Not in the books this year but I'd definitely do it again.

Every steering/suspension component in the car stands to be replaced. However, the passenger side upper ball joint is totally shot/failed. What I mean is that when it rolled off the trailer and was driven into the garage, every bump in the road result in a “clank clank clank”. When I grab the passenger side wheel at 12oclock and 6oclock, it’s got a lot of play, metal to metal. My son is already getting annoyed with me because what started with a plan to get the essentials done so we could putter around town, I’ve been delaying that with projects like steering wheel replacements, front grill restoration, painting under hood components etc. So we want to get back on track with getting the essentials done mostly (which I consider the balljoint and fuel system now). I probably should add the ebrake to that. Then the maintenance stuff will get done in time.

Re: Summer plans?
No time for truck stuff -
I hope to be driving Model T's in Greenfield Village two days a week: https://www.thehenryford.org/collect...etId=THF133615 We are celebrating the 100th anniversary of Pontiac Motor Division at the annual POCI conference in June, in Pontiac Michigan. There's always the Woodward Dream Cruise in August. Volunteering one night a week at the Pontiac Transportation Museum. https://www.pontiactransportationmuseum.org/ And I'm still racing (48 years) and have three events lined up for the Chevelle. I'll be swamped (I hope). K

Re: Summer plans?
Need to get the fuel system plumbed, work out the EFI bugs, and bleed the brakes and it will be roadworthy. Maybe a front end alignment, as all components are new except coil springs and tie rod ends, which only have a few files on them. Then cruise it.

Re: Summer plans?
I need to get the rust off the bed and upper cab and primer on.
Whether I can get color over that will depend on budget and consistent employment Generally, having time and money simultaneously is an elusive goal

Re: Summer plans?
If you are in the MPLS/St.Paul area there are two really big car shows.
First every third weekend in June is Back to Fifty's car show. Typically 11K cars over the 3 day weekend. To enter your hot rod it has to 1964 and older but spectating still great. Next is what used to be Car Craft summer Nationals. Typically the third weekend in July. About 8K cars over the three day weekend. Any cars can come in. No year limits. Both shows are held at the MN state fair grounds in St.Paul. The cool thing is that the fair grounds is designed like a small town and you can cruise up and down the streets with your hot rod street legal or not. |
