Re: Narrowed rear end question

You can get a big tire under there with a stock width axle and the correct wheels. How wide do you want to go?

Well the truck use to have 24x12 on it and rubbed the inner and outer fenders so I took the tubs out , gonna put the aftermarket wider tubs in this time , it’s got a 5 inch drop spring in it now and plan to add a 1 or 2 inch drop block and I think im gona do a 22x12 this time with a decent lip

Re: Narrowed rear end question

Yep, that would qualify, lol. Can't remember the numbers, but a passenger car 12 bolt is narrower. Another decent choice would be the 91-96 B body 8.5 ten bolt (not the 7.5). But, that is 5x5 pattern. Or just call Strange and write the big cheque.

Re: Narrowed rear end question

Redrill the axles and rotors for the 6 bolt pattern.

Re: Narrowed rear end question

I was thinking like a Tahoe or 1500 truck with disk because it’s already 6 lug and better gears ratios and a lsd and bigger brakes , can get a Tahoe/truck rear and for $160 at u-pull-it , my caprice rear has open diff and like 3.23 gear, be cheaper to buy the Tahoe or truck rear and buy shorter axles

That's how I'd do it.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.

Cubic inches is like Indiana Jones with a cheap pistol.
