I just gave away the one that came out of my son's truck. We replaced it with the 290 HP motor from Chevy Performance Parts. Runs Sweeeet

I have a running 283 that is rebuilt and it was worth near $400. Mine is from a 57 Bel Air and will be transplanted into the wifes 58 GMC over the winter

I'm looking to trade mine for a 350 or larger also. It runs great, but I want more power, (grunting like Tim Allen) and I figure the 283 would be worth more to someone with an earlier model car for restoration.

283's are bulletproof. I tried to convince the wife to trade mr her 283 for my freshly rebuilt 350 and she just wouldn't go for it I would still rather have a 283, just something about the 350's little brother that makes me want one
