I'M LOOKING TO BUY A FULL FRAME FOR A PROJECT I'M CONSIDERING DO'ING
I AM WANTING TO FIND A FRAME THAT WOULD FIT UNDER THE BODY OF MY 1950 CHEVY 1/2 TON PANEL TRUCK BUT HAVE NO CLUE IF A 67-72 FRAME WOULD FIT UNDER THE BODY OF MY PANEL TRUCK BODY , BUT IF IT WOULD I WOULD NEED A 2 W/D 1/2 TON FRAME WITH DISC ON THE FRONT AND COIL SPRINGS ON THE REAR. IT WOULD BE NICE TO FIND A TURN KEY 350/ 350 TH TRANS. I AM LOOKING TO LOWER IT A LOT SO I WOULD GO WITH ECE PARTS TO DROP IT PROBABLY A 4-6 DROP. I'M IN MO. SO I WOULD HAVE TO FIND A WAY TO SHIP IT ON A TRAILER TO ST. LOUIS CITY ON A FLATBED TRAILER. OR FIND ONE IN MO. AND GET IT MYSELF . DOE'S ANYBODY KNOW WHAT WILL WORK ON A PROJECT LIKE THIS?

I have this frame from a 66 dropped spindels and coil over shocks on the back.

I GUESS I NEED TO MEASURE FROM CENTER OF BACK WHEEL TO CENTER OF THE FRONT WHEEL . I WAS HOPING SOMEBODY WOULD KNOW IF THIS CAN BE DONE .

I have a 72 long wheel base, discs, arms, from CO, minimal surface rust, that could be used as well. You need to get wheelbase dimensions from a book such as 50 Years of Chevrolet or such and get the specs on wheelbase and overall, then pick the frame that is exact, or is closest. The rear frame rails you can shorten, same with a little of the front frame horns, but you need the wheelbase of what you have before you should go further.

My opinion, but might save some grief. After that, see what truck frames might work with the wheelbase dimensions. You might also look at your body mounts and make a drawing of location front to rear, off the center line of the body side to side, and also "pick an elevation of the mounts" and see if there are major vertical dimensions you may have to deal with.

Hope this helps. My rolling will be parted out shorty.

My friend used a 86 s-10 longbed under has 48 chevy and he has a 455 olds engine and th400 trans bolted up to the s-10 chassis. Worked really good.

i second bisquik and had seen the same thing on a truck for sale in kentucky. it was a 48 chevy and it was on a 80`s s10 frame.

s10 frames are the way to go from what ive heard, my dads buddy has a 41-49 international on a 93 s10 frame...notsure the extact year of the truck but they are all basically the same in those years
