Mint Blazer

Well as 1 of you know im going to NAIT in fairview taking a Caterpillar Heavy Duty mechaics course. Well our shop is right next to the automotive shop and they just brought in a 1985 Blazer it is in absolutly Mint condition.

About 5 years ago a local dealer found this blazer (not sure how you lose one in the first place) As of now it has 345km on it, Mint condtion, and even still has the intact (dealer remove plastic) seat covers on it! well except the drivers side plastic is a little worn . They have gone through the brakes and rear end but the engine and tranny still have origonal seals but the thing still runs and drives great....

I asked what it would take to sell it to me but alas they arnt aloud to or give away anything that has been donated to the school.

Just thought i would share it with ya

Finnaly got some pictures. After drooling over it its not perfect but its still realy nice. The messy plastic in the interior pic is the origonal plastic that came on it out of the factory and was suposed to be removed by the dealer upon arival.

Ive asked the instructors if there is any possible way i could buy it but they said there is no way and if there was it wouldnt be here(which makes sence, but they cant blame me for trying)

Now that you mention it...it doesnt make much sense. When I took automechanics in HS, we allways worked on either teachers cars/trucks or donated ones....nothing mint.

maybe there was something wrong with it, and it was donated by GM. They get to write it off, and the school gets a newer car to work on. I guess in the case of that Jimmy, if it has been lost for all of this time, it would be hard to sell it as new. That's probably how it ended up there. When I was in school, we had a 92 Lincoln Mark VII that had been donated when new. Part of the agreement is that the school can't sell any part of the car; when they are finished with it, the vehicle must be destroyed.

reminds me of a 86 K1500 blazer that my dad had for a few years until he sold it and bought a *gasp* 87 Frod Runger 4x4... he even wishes he would have kept the blazer lol
that looks liek a nice one, grab it while you can! figure out the problems later

also in my high school they would get very rough cars/trucks from various sources and they would rebuild the engine to stock specs plus the body would be done the same way then they sell it to pay for the classes and supplies... some came out mint and cherry as can be, others looked like it was crushed before but someone tried to resurrect it

Well here in canada we have a list that each college puts their name on. When Dealers have vehicles that they cant sell or are damaged or were lost they are donated to the next college on the list. About half the vehicles we have are donated new, the other half were donated buy other people, some with problems others just high miles.

This blazer has NO rust, just a little piece where the paint has flaked off. All the vehicles that arnt being worked on at the time are stored in a coverd storege.

Also the way the aprentiship program in Alberta (best in northamerica and only one that is reconized by california) is, alot of it is taking apart working machinery to see how it works and how it should work.

Also when this Jimmy came in none of the seals were any good any more and the breaks had to be redone.

I just thought it was neat to see somthing this old with no miles on it.
