Replacing Door Internals - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Im in the process of taking apart my doors so I can change out the window regulators, locks and door handles. Does anyone have a diagram that makes this process any easier? Thanks

I took mine apart today on my 68. After fighting with them for a while I pulled the 3 screws out of the door that go into the side vents an unbolted the hardware. Window lifted right out and everything is easy to get to.

Remove the door panels,then remove the screws from the vent window,they're in front of the door,there are also some behind the door panel.Then make sure the window is down and work the vent assembly loose.Once it's loose you will need to rotate it 90degrees with the bottom to the outside.Then lift the whole vent assembly out.Now you can see in the door enough to take the window out of the tracks,there should be slots to make it easier.Take the window out the top.You can now acess the door internals and replace them.Reassembly is the reverse of this.
BTW you can use a trim tool or a wire with a 90 degree bend to remove the door handle and window regulator clips so you can remove the handles from their posts.
