What did you get done this weekend

It's been awhile, but I used to do this post every Monday

What did you get done this weekend?

I started looking for a Suburban to replace my lowered short bed. My wife has been talking about a second child, so I'm going to need more seats.

I put in cv axles and 4 struts on the Saturn I have borrowed for the last 3 months. Allways had the opinion that if you borrow something, you should give it back better than you got it. Finished up in good time. Still have not test drove it.... I lost the darned keys!

NOTE TO SELF: When lending a vehicle to Chickenwing, have spare set of keys made first.

Went to the Ark City Last Run show with my 52 Saturday. It drew a lot of lookers, not to often you see an unrestored original in as good of shape as mine. Sunday I started to install my heads, but found I had self-aligning rockers and need non-self aligning.

Finally got my motor and tranny test fitted and trimmed the frame for the AC compressor. Prepped the bottom of my cab with undercoating and hope to mount it to the frame tonight!

Got the passenger side windshield post done. This is my first sheetmetal repair on the old girl. I think it came out pretty well.

Went fishing at Goose Island (Port Aransas). Friends and I caught a bunch of trout and reds, drank a few brewskies and a good time was had by all.

Nothing at the weekend but today stuck the new starter motor back on for what feels like the thousandth time, this time with a full complement of proper new starter bolts, so hopefully that'll solve my starting alignment problems. Started fine cold but need to take it out for a run to check the hot starting. Also bought a proper wheel polishing kit today, all the little cotton ops and felt doodads to mount on a drill and clean up my uncoated and very murky looking wheels. Have given the first one a degrease, sprayed it with some special aluminium cleaner to get the worst of the corrosion off and it looks better already. Tommorrow I may dig out my old drill and give the polishing a whirl. When I've got them shiny I've got a bottle of special mag wheel sealer/polish to treat them with so hopefully they'll last a while.

Hardly anything. Since the baby is here I spend more time playing with her, changing diapers, or helping out mom than I did laying out and cutting my bathroom floor tile.

Here's some pics of my progress. I'm laying out the 1 1/2" hex tile that will go on the floor. Gotta get cutting this afternoon. That's the only tile left to set, since the wall and trim tile is all done.

Had to ship out 6 sailors to play in the sand.

Lost half of my command.

Been fighting via email about a truck purchase with a fellow board member. Not happy about that.

I got the house and garage re-shingled. Ordered carpet for the livingroom to go with the new reclining sofa, love seat and rocker. With that new furniture I figure to spend less and less time in my soon to be insulated garage. Maybe I'll have to mave the old recliner and a TV to the garage. Hmmm, sounds like a plan.
