It's that time of the week, the weekend
What are you doing to your truck this weekend????
I got to finish the windshield........i know. "weren't you suppose to do that last week"?. I got one side done. Maybe It'll take less time to do the driver side cause I'm more more confident of my skills and use of tools. Who knows I might just start on the floor with some luck. I'm actually going to start friday on some cutting so saturday might just be spend welding away. So what you are guys up too? |

Hitting the salvage yard to see if I can find some wheels to make the frame mobile. Frame recently primed and front and rear suspension is on. Waiting on a order from Totally Stainless and might get to actually put the cab on.

I will get the starter problem finally ironed out, I will! I've replaced the bolts with new proper starter bolts and now have a brand new GM starter brace to fit and she should be good to go. I've got to say I'm impressed with Classic Industries, I ordered the starter brace from them last Friday and it arrived here on Wednesday, now bearing in mind they're in California and I am in Lancashire in the UK, that's not bad service! I've also just bought a wheel polishing kit and have had as go at one of my wheels with it so may try and get another couple done.

Going to start cutting my cab and replacing the rust. First attempt at this type of work. Plan to go slowly and be very carefull. Plus I have been watching ebfabman's videos so Im not quite as nervous whipping out the cutting tools now.
Also, with the motor in and cab on maybe I can finish assembling the front end. Kind of hard compressing the springs to mount the spindles when workign alone and not having enough weight on the frame.

Going to push the Burb in the shop and drop the engine and tranny in. Of course I've been saying that for the last month, but I mean it this time.

Fedex shows that my rockers are on the way to my house, my plans are to get the top end of my engine back together. I have the clay, so I can check the valve clearance tonight. Sunday I should be able to get all the bolting done.

i am going to finish research on front disc drum swap. my old man might be able to hok me up with the parts, if not i will start calling junkyards to see what they want for a set, keep in mind i still don't know what year to use. a 71-72 was the first choice but it seems to be that a newer model would be easier.

I'm headed to the shop at 5:00pm so our second shift welder can weld together the motor mounts I fabricated. I'll get those in tonight and then begin putting on exhaust, running fuel line, hoses, etc. in preparation to fire the beast up !
I'm about 3 weekends away from the initial drive..... |

My parents took my truck down to the Goodguys Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway. Kinda stinks to be stuck in a dorm in college while your parents take your truck to shows...

I'm hosting an unknown number of crazy Minnesota (and surrounding states) board members for beer, barbeque and B.S. on Saturday. I've been working all afternoon on getting the shop presentable and the house clean. Dear Lord, what have I done?!?

Should be a big day for me, I told my body guy on Monday that finished or not I'm picking up my K20 today - 8 and 1/2 months is too long for me. (He hasn't touched it in more than a month btw)

I just need to hook the hoist up to the engine and get it out of the frame. Has been unbolted and just sitting there since last weekend.
Then the replacement frame comes in to get jacked up, leveled, and then take the plasma cutter to it to shorten it! After it is shortened, then it's off to the sandblaster! But that's another weekend. If I have time, I will probably continue with the rust repair on the cab, and finish the custom sheet metal work I started on the inside and on the dash. I have 2 small spots on the floor to replace, replace 3 spots on the firewall, shave and smooth the area where the heater stuff was, then finish welding shut all the slots on the dash. Then I can start making the custom dash/instrument panel. Then maybe next weekend I can hang the Goodmark doors and get the new rockers and cab corners on.
