OK Forget the family resposibliity crap, I wan't A truck. But I need some help, if the PICs are accurate and I dont see Giant rust holes in the frame and underside of the truck, is $3500 a fair price for this? SWB 350 3 spd std. on the tree.

Dunno what your area is like as far as market value etc, but that truck is not worth 3500 in my book. In fact i'd never pay over 2 thousand for a truck like that, probably less. The rusted frame/body really depreciate it.
I've passed by a lot better trucks for less than 2 grand before.... Just keep an eye out and be patient, IMO... Offer low, and if he dosen't take it, oh well, there's more 67-72 trucks out there. JMHO.... EDIT: I thought you said that there were giant rust holes in the body/frame. I need to read better. the lower body is still rusted in all the usual places, so don't sell your heart for it...

Climb underneath and look over the cab mounts and floor pans. The primered rockers and cab corners show a repair, whether it was done correctly is the question. Also look at the cups that hold the rear springs in place, look at the trailing arms where the springs mount, I've seen them crack in that location. Check out the wheel well and radiator support on the passenger side under the battery for rust.
It is a decent looking truck and looks like it has all the trim, but on the passenger side rocker I can't see the line between the rocker and the cab corner, it may be bondo'ed over... or my eyes are shot The bed looks good and that is a plus... It's hard to find a truck in that good of shape in my area... The mechanics are easy to fix, the rust is a killer and should drive the price good luck, Roger

Roger made some good points. The mechanics are easy, but in addition to the rust, the detail pieces like a radio, steering wheel, interior trim pieces, rubber door seals, brakes, and it looks like it needs tires, quickly add up to a lot of extra cash. There are a lot more trucks out there in our area. No more than 2 grand. Please feel free to PM me and I can give you some more information.

A few minor eyesores. Very little rust. Nice straight grille/bumper/hood. No noticeable dents. Good looking engine. I'd go 3K.

Yeah, I'd rather see rusty rockers than bad attempts to cover the problem...

I'm not saying the truck isn't worth the price, I've bought far worse for more! But anyone who isn't familiar with these trucks shouldn't have to learn the way I did about the problems these trucks have. I'd still rather have one of these trucks than a new one.
In my area the asking price isn't out of line, but asking price isn't usually selling price and the more he knows about problem areas the better. Rg

Did I miss something, again? That is a short fleetside Chevy PU, isn't it? Where are you all finding lots of those around and for less money? Not here! The bed looks straight & premium and the rest looks good, too...and it does run, right? I could sell 10 of those today at that price. Where did you say it was?

Short beds are hard to come buy over here. I wouldn't feel molested if I bought that truck for $3500. $3000 and I would feel like I got an ok deal. $2500 I'd be lookin over my shoulder for the po-lice. Appearance wise I think that is fair... Now major items (drivetrain) and service items previously mentioned (tires, brakes, suspension) might shy me off. Give er a good looksie and be prepared to walk away.

I would pay 3500 for that truck in a heartbeat, but you can find better deals in the mountains of North Carolina, they just seem to be everywhere in that part of the state.

Drive it to the Seattle area and sell it to a spoiled brat highschool kid in Bellevue for $6000. There aren't very many SWB trucks around here...
I'd buy that truck at the drop of a hat if you lived here...damn.

With the rust that I see and if you can do most of the work yourself, go 3K. I thought the western states was where the gold trucks were. The last add paper that I looked at a few weeks ago, there was 4-6 swb's from 4-7K. they would have to southern or western before I'd buy em'. Cos there is very few that is rust free from WV. Mines from NC and had no rust till I drove it 2 winters. I'm asked at least twice a month if mines for sale.Give the same reply, 5k and bring a trailer or 10k or more dependin' on the paint job. Most thinks I'm nuts till they start lookin' and see whats here or down south.
