Bed Cover Info
I just finished installing my new bed cover. I read on here where someone else had one of these, so I looked into it. I ordered a CheckMate FX soft cover. I order a custom color other than the standard black one, so that added $10 to the cost. Shipping was fast and costed $22. Total to the door was $191.75. No holes to drill either. Just incase someone wanted to know about these.

That looks great! I like the low profile, don't really care for the ones that stick up.

This only sticks up about 1/4" if that. It has bows inside to keep is flat too. NO SAGGING or FLAPPING!
Hey Husker, we're not too far apart. I'm down here in Colorado Springs. Cool.

The cover only took about 2 hours to install. Basically, you just just put together four aluminum frame pieces. Then lay it on top of the vinyl and fold the vinyl over the frame. You install an long "L" strip over the vinyl, pull it tight and screw in the screws. There are extendable aluminum tubes called bows that help tighten the vinyl that you insert in side the frame. Lastly, you install a foam adhesive tape to the frame set it inside the bed.
It uses a "C" camp type of device to hold it to the bed frame rails. You do have slide into the bed to tighten the clamps. (A real pain with my wheel tubs!!) Over all, it is really a nice piece. Here's another pic of it.

Could ya still use something like that if you had relocated your tailgate latch to the inside of the tailgate. Just wondering if it would work on mine?

does it roll up? I like it because its flush is all. other than that i have the access cover. Does it seal up? I also have shaved the tailgate handle so can I still get in?

With my particular cover, if you don't have an outside tailgate latch, you can't open it. Sorry. They do make one that has latches, hinges, and shocks that will let you open it. You would have to check with them on the exact operation feature of that one.
These do seal. They have a foam, single sided tape that you install around the cover. It seals to the bed and tailgate, but doesn't actually stick to the bed. I don't use my bed that much except for things that would fit behind the wheel tubs. It is kinda like a trunk. I drove it on the highway today and had no problems and no flapping.

so you cant open it unless you take the whole thing out? i was lookin into the hinged one, but i didnt htink it came over the bedrails at all. and pics of the frame of it? thanks, Ben
