Leaf spring swap

I am swapping out my old multi leaf spring with a new mono leaf spring setup from Performance online. I am putting the new mono springs in exactly the same place as my old multi. My question is; are the mono leaf springs installed the same way as a multi leaf? The reason that I ask is the kit that I was supplied with had U bolts with a squared off end to them. Does this mean that the U bolts are put in a different orientation? Here is a picture of the old setup I had before I tore down the truck.

Here is a similar picture of the kit that I bought. I was trying to figure out why the bolts are squared off; the only thing that I can think of is the U bolts go upside down and are placed over the spring instead of the axle. This orientation seems to be dangerous, but then again I have never put in a mono spring setup before. I found that the little bolts are for going into the saddle area (used as a stud in the center of the mono leaf spring)

OK i went out and looked at my 58. It has the multi leaf still, but the ubolts are square with the tread part down. I put monos on the front and they are square also. The bolt ends go down on them also. Hope this helps. johnj
