suspension question
Which suspension would be better for carrying a load of 500lbs or towing a trailer that weighs 1500-2000lbs. The 2wd coil suspension or the K5 leaf spring suspension? I don't really need a 4x4 but I need the truck for work.

Not That This Helps Answer Your Question, But My 70 "click On The
$500.00 Link" Has A 250 Inline 6, 350 Turbo Tranny, 4:10 Gears, Custom Class 5 Hitch (stronger Than A 4) And I Pulled 6000 Lbs. To Memphis And Back. (2.5 Hrs. Round Trip) Oh Yea, She Has Coils And She's Also Slammed Ridin On The Snubbers All The Way Around, Pulled Fine.

i would say coil sprung suspension, less axle wrap than leaves, but 500 lbs isnt too much either way. if you use a 'soft ride' style lift leaf spring the wrap gets worse than you would think.
good luck. tommo |

Leaf springs....
Leaf springs are 100% better than a coil spring suspension to tow, I used to have a C-10 with coils and whenever I towed with it always seemed to be moving around like crazy and it wasn't that stable and it even had auxiliary leaf helpers, now my 3/4 ton with leafs doesn't do that, that's why I prefer the leaf over the coils for towing.
That axle wrap that tommo describes might happen if you had a race truck with a lot of power (it would be an empty truck) therefore making your rear axle hop around like crazy, that's when you would have axle wrap, but when towing you have a load pushing down on the back of your truck so axle wrap wouldn't be as big of a problem here, just my .02
