Missing at warm up?
My truck started doing this a few weeks ago after a long drive. When I start it up in the morning it misses(or at least sounds/looks like it). If I take the air cleaner off and hold the choke open it runs fine.... Did the choke get miss adjusted or somthing wierd? Has this happened to any one else?

Anyone? I tried lubing it and that didnt do anything, everything moves freely. Could it be that the choke is closing to much? Or is all this the biggining of a bigger underlying problem.

try carb cleaner, fuel line cleaner, new fuel filter, new spark plugs and wires and maybe cap and rotor, maybe the module...
could be any number of things

Mine misses on really cold starts as well...but it could have something to do with the monstrosity I call a cam.....but normally if you warm it up....an it dissappears, I would just say shoot it good with some carb cleaner an see if that helps... IMO

Mine did that all last winter, just loped like it had a huge duration cam in it until it warmed up. Never did figure out why either, didn't do it when things were warm.

mine does it all the time...but thats prolly cause it is a big stick....lol

Well im going to have to do somthing about it, I have a feeling the neighbours dont like me sitting in it with it reved up at 6am before I go to work!
Ill toss some carb cleaner in there tommorow. |

Sounds like the CPA (choke pulloff assembly) has gone bad or is out of adjustment. Depending on the year model it could have one or two CPA's. They would be located on the passenger side of the carb. Quick way to check them is to have the engine running and pull the vacuum line off and see if the arms on the CPA extend if not it/they are old and defective. If they extend when the vacuum hose is removed then they are probably out of adjustment. Some CPA's are adjusted with an allen wrench others simply bend the linkage.

Well my choke is an electric one.
I sprayed it down with lots of carb cleaner and it still has the problem. Later on this week I'm going to see about adjusting the choke and also will look at my plugs. |

Here is what a typical GM CPA looks like. You can adjust this one with a screwdriver. You may have a different CPA but it can still be adjusted.
