Rear end options
Okay, think I finally got my brakes working correctly, and have been trying to put some miles on the truck to see what else is wrong. Last night I picked up a vibration towards the rear of the truck. I haven't had a chance to track it down yet, but I'm thinking it's either the differential going, or something along the 2 piece driveshaft, probably the carrier bearing.
The reason I think it might be the diff is that when I redid my rear brakes, it appeared that the bearing around the axel was leaking since I had tons of heavy grease in my drum, and the diff housing was low. I filled it up, but didn't have a chance to check it last night. Currently has the 12 bolt corp axle, believe it's the HO-52, but haven't confirmed that yet. If it is the diff, what would be the pros and cons of either rebuilding this one, or replacing it with another one? Also, can this one be converted to either a positrac setup, or a locker setup since if I do rebuild it, I'll have it apart anyways? Thanks! Scott
